Justin Timberlake Campaigning for Oscar Nomination

Posted: November 30th, 2010 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
Justin Timberlake Campaigning for Oscar NominationSubmit Comment
It's very likely that "The Social Network" and it's two stars Jesse Eisenberg and Andrew Garfield will be considered during the Oscars. But what about Justin Timberlake?

NY Post claims that Timberlake is mounting an aggressive campaign in order to be nominated for Best Supporting Actor Oscar. "He's hell-bent on getting a nomination this year even though he has tough competition from his co-star Andrew Garfield," said the paper's source.

The studios usually pay for advertising during award campaigns, but Timberlake is apparently doing everything himself. He's out there attending Academy screenings and privately reaching out to past award winner for campaigning advice.

Even if Timberlake ends up nominated, he'll still face tough competition from Geoffrey Rush (The King's Speech) and Christian Bale (The Fighter).

No chance. And it's just sad he has to beg for a nomination, not even a win.

That's like begging your dad for a promise to hug you later without ever getting the actual hug.

he was actually pretty good, but he wont win

He don't deserve it yet. One day, mayby - but not yet. Not for this role. It was good. But not that good.

Definitely not for this movie. Gotta admit he surprised me in Alpha Dog

I know this will surprise some people and even piss a few off (like I am pissing on your shoes and telling you it is raining) ...

I agree with Justin.

He has shown some pretty solid chops as an actor, just like any actor out there right now getting serious work. Both good and bad.

He should be nominated for " The Social Network ". Whether he wins or not, let the Academy judges decide.

Yep. I didn't even read the comments above.

I am the weakest link.

Sorry, Justin.

Well, at least you're not Beiber.

I'm going to say it .........I agree! Oops!

Not a chance JT. You did an o.k. job in the film, but definitely out of your league with the other actors. And DEFINITELY out of your league with other actors that will and should get a nomination in other movies. Personally, I thought you were the weakest part of "The Social Network". In fact, every other male in it should get a nomination over you.

@Max

Totally right man. Why are we afraid to admit this? Because he was in NSync? We all make dumb decisions when we're young. Let's look at the facts here:

Justin Timberlake is ridiculously talented. Good singer, good actor, even a good comedian.

He was good in Alpha Dog.
In the past few years he's been one of those SNL hosts who can actually make an episode good (even with bad writing).
Did anyone see The Love Guru? It f*cking sucked. But Timberlake was one of the few laugh-worthy people in it (for the right reasons).

If you've seen The Social Network there's no denying that he gave a great performance. He jumped through hoops for that role too. It was surprising how convincing he was in both the confident, fast-talking aspect of his character and the paranoid, crazy person aspect, yet he moved between these two realms effortlessly.

Unfortunately for him, Garfield WAS simply outstanding in it and I'd have to give to him over Timberlake (but that's not a slight to Justin). I think any other year without Geoffery Rush, Mark Ruffalo, Aaron Eckhart, Christian, Bale, Josh Brolin, Matt Damon, etc in the mix, he'd have a better shot.

no! because he's only watchable in SN but do to act a look-alike pop star character by a pop star is a great idea

I'm with max, bigdaddy and mink on this...

he was goodd in "The Social Network" but not Oscar winning good, would'nt mind the nom, but if it was between him and Garfield then I say Garfield.

@mink

I remember "The Love Guru" and yes he was the only one in it that actually made me laugh..in a good way.

There will be only one supporting actor nod from this movie and it will be for Andrew Garfield. Why, because the he is the future Spiderman and the studio is going to push/campaign hard for that as a plug to see the new Spiderman. I can see the trailer now, and Academy Nominee, Andrew Garfield....
I do however feel Timberlake should get a nomination before Garfield though....
DCRob writes:
on December 1st, 2010 at 12:28:38 PM

If Garfield gets a nomination it won't be because he's the new Spiderman, it's because he did a great job in the film. And he's a terrific actor. No way in hell Timberlake should get a nomination instead of him.
