Tom Hanks and Halle Berry in Wachowski's "Cloud Atlas" Sci-Fi Film

Tom Hanks and Halle Berry in WachowskiSubmit Comment
The Wachowskis (The Matrix) have been pushing their gay war romance movie "Cobalt Neural 9," even thought nobody in Hollywood wants to be part of it. Now comes news from Halle Berry that the next movie for the helmers may actually be an $80 million adaptation of David Mitchell's "Cloud Atlas" sci-fi novel.

"I'm going to do a movie, probably in the summer, with the Wachowskis," she said. "A really interesting movie that's sort of what they did for 'The Matrix.' They have another really amazing idea that's going to stretch our brains even further. And that's with Tom Hanks and Natalie Portman."

Earlier this year, it was said that James McAvoy and Ian McKellen were set to star in the movie and Tom Tykwer (Run Lola Run) was set to direct. At the time, the Wachowskis were only producing, but now it seems that they have decided to get behind the camera.

The book is comprised of six parts that are loosely connected. There is a naive clerk on a nineteenth-century Polynesian voyage; an aspiring composer who insinuates himself into the home of a syphilitic genius; a journalist investigating a nuclear plant; a publisher with a dangerous best-seller on his hands; and a cloned human being created for slave labor. These five stories are arranged around a sixth, which focuses on the history of a post-apocalyptic island.

Lost every sense of faith in the Wachowskis. The Matrix was good but overrated, in retrospective, and the sequels were awful. Give it to Tom Tykwer instead.

Who comes up with this bullsh*t, no one wants to see a movie about a gay soldier romance except for the gays. I gave Speed Racer a pass, but I think ever since the one brother became a chick there is no hope for quality flicks in the future.

Their next film is a gay iraq war allegory. Not surprised by the lack of interest!

@Big_Daddy --- Aniston is going naked soon in a flick to save her floundering career.

Jenn, Halle... sex tape (with Portman) and just go travel the world together. Cut your spending and travel.

The Matrix = GREAT!
The Matrix 'Reloaded' = great fight sequences.
The Matrix 'Revolutions' = WTF?!?!

PS: I'd love to lock Halle's stilettos into those hooped earrings for a weekend!

@ranger

my luck would be aniston nude after a baby....even if it is an adopted baby she will still be ruined
Ranger writes:

Note shows like TMZ and such make the observation Aniston spends a lot of time alone.

it's time they make a good movie after the horrific 'speed racer'

And given those weird-ass pictures of Larry Wachowski we've all seen recently, we know HE/SHE/IT will focus on the composer and the syphilis.

"Lost every sense of faith in the Wachowskis. The Matrix was good but overrated, in retrospective, and the sequels were awful. Give it to Tom Tykwer instead."

Precisely! And let me add that the original Matrix film made no damned sense, either logically or scientifically.

So it's hard to call it 'science fiction' when the so-called science in the film is more like Ursula LeGuin fantasy instead.

Just because a film has futuristic robots and whatnot doesn't mean it's genuine science fiction.
minkowski writes:

And the Matrix sequels didn't make sense period, either as science fiction or as fantasy, or as an LSD-induced trip.

These guys remind me of many other post-modern one-hit wonders, like Richard Kelly and Daniel Myrick.

Besides, another sci-fi flick, and with Tom Cruise who only does well in period peice films, and Halle Berry who only does well naked? Does anyone want to see that?

And what's with the gay film? Are both the Wachowski broth...uh, siblings flaming queers?

Fine for them, in their personal and hopefully well-secluded, lives, but to drag, no pun intended, this crap onto the screen and assume their rather bizarre sexual predilections are palatable to mainstream anywhere, except perhaps France, is just both arrogant and insulting.

Like many one-hit wonder filmmakers, they assume they possess infinite goodwill because of their original hit. Not so, Wack-off-ski's.
minkowski writes:

peice=piece, but who gives a sh*t?
darkraven28 writes:

I can't wait to hear Tom Hanks' Larry Wachoski impersonation. Cuz you KNOW he's gonna have one and it'll make you laugh till you sh*t.

The Matrix ?

The Blade Runner + manga comic books + Superman + Transadental Meditation mixed with Religion + Two Bullsh*t Sequels =

Speaking of Black Friday ... Halle Berry, Pam Grier and Marsha Thomason with a vat of honey, no clothes and lots of dirty intentions ....
