"Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1" Take First Place AgainSubmit Comment
"Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1" took first place for the second week in a row by grossing another $50 million, which brings its domestic total to $220 million and worldwide total to $609 million.

Disney's "Tangled" movie took second place with a surprisingly strong $49 million over the weekend and $69 million since Wednesday. This is the biggest debut for an animated Disney film in years.

The other wide releases all underperformed. "Burlesque" musical, which stars Christina Aguilera and Cher, grossed $11.8 million during the weekend and landed in fourth place. 70% of audiences were comprised of women, with over 50% being over the age of 25.

Meanwhile, Jake Gyllenhaal's "Love and Other Drugs" opened to only $9.9 million in sixth place. And Dwayne Johnson's "Faster" grossed $8.6 million to land in seventh place. The film cost only $12 million to develop.

I think Dustin actually got one right with Faster. I saw it the other night for free and actually thought it was a pretty good action flick. It's a cliche ridden action flick, but it knows it, and embraces it gracefully. It was a lovely looking film too. I hear it actually cost 24 million though, I don't know.

So is this total so far mean HP under performing or on schedule or over performing or does anyone care?

2010 : The year movies puttered, died, sh*tted out feces and urine, farter for hours, then slowly showed rigor mortis (for the most part).

Correction : farted, not farter.

@Max-I agree this is the year the movies died for good. In all my years there's not a single movie I want for Xmas.

@Badchad: Inception ? Toy Story 3 ? The Expandables ? The Social Network ?

I'm not saying all movies were bad but this year has been a major drop off from previous years. It's been months since I've been to the theatres and I usually go every week or every other week. Last movie I seen was The Expendables. I already own Toy Story 3 and The Expendables on dvd , getting Inception on its day of release and then thats it for me on movies. There nothing coming out or already on dvd that I want from this year for xmas. You have to admit this year has been a let down rather you agree or not.

Gotta agree with Chad on this one. It was the year of "the hype". No rumors about a scene with Harry servicing Hermione with a wand up the keester......skip it.

I feel sorry for the Rock.

Its not good for action stars to have such a lack luster weekend.

Pretty soon studios will only hire him for direct to DVD movies or some TV series.

At least women can go to porn, he would have to go back to the ring.

@Mister Leary: Well, Hermione WAS naked in Harry Potter 7: Part 1... But you couldn't actually see anything (damn).
