Karl Urban in New Live-Action "Batman" TV Series?Submit Comment
CBM has learned that Warner Bros is planning to launch an all new live-action "Batman" TV series as soon as Christopher Nolan completes "The Dark Knight Rises."

An executive, who has overseen the development of "Two and a Half Men," "The Mentalist," "ER," "The West Wing," "Without a Trace" and "Friends" has been tasked with the job. The goal is to keep the new show in line with Nolan's trilogy.

It has also been mentioned that there are plans to re-introduce The Joker, but in a completely new way so not to step on Heath Ledger's version. And the actor who Warners wants to play Batman is Karl Urban (Star Trek).

Reeks like Smallville tween drama material- that show should have taken a shotgun to the head years ago.

Perhaps two shotguns.

...

Karl's got my vote though.

Interesting, will they stay in line with the trilogy and will Nolan,Goyer etc. have any say in it?

Will Karl be doing the Batuse? (Or however they spell the name of the Bat dance from the old tv show)

Adam West!

Adam West was the actor from the 60's show but I am too lazy to try to look up the spelling of the Bat dance he did on the show.

Not a bad idea. Sure hope it's good(If it "will" be made.

Is this perhaps what they meant by something huge happening in 2012 (that isn't the movie)in the Batman universe?
If not for that quote, I'd think there was zero chance of this happening. Its a good idea though. The future of superheroes is on the small screen. It's only a matter of time before Mavel and DC have their own respective networks.

Puff Daddy should play Batman!

The fact they plan to bring the Joker back, i think Nolan won't have any involvment in this.

It would be awesome to have a live action TV series, but as long as it connects to the films.

f*ck off WB thats Judge Dredd, find your own guy...

Sounds good to me. I don't get why it would have anything at all to do with the films. I wouldn't mind seeing something of a re-imagining of the Batman characters.

I can go with that.

I have no problem with it but why would Karl Urban, a movie actor, turn to tv?

Unfortunately,not true

Don't do it Karl. This just smells like sh*t. You know they're going to bring in Robin, and Batgirl, and probably a minority sidekick to appease Equal Opportunity Nazis.

These kind of shows are never good when they're on public TV. It'll have cheap production, bad music, toned down violence, and won't be "gritty".

If something like this were on Showtime or HBO and they had a huge budget, I'd be down for it, however, when you read that the executive responsible for keeping a soul-less Charlie Sheen on tv is taking charge of this, it just says: Walk Away now.

I just don't see this happening. And if it does, with Urban, I won't get over envisioning him as Bones on Star Trek. Hell even in this pic he looks like he's portraying Bones.

If they want to do a Batman series on TV, then just bring back Birds Of Prey. That had to have been one of the most underrated shows of all time.
I loved that show!!

They are bound to f*ck this up.

@HorrorJunky4Life ... if Karl does the Batusi (don't ask how I know how the f*ck to spell that dance), then you'll know the writings in trouble .... plus it'll remind me of Vincent Vega and Mia Wallace at Jackrabbit Slim's and I don't need to recall that dance ...

Dwight- did you just wake up from hibernation or something? - The Dark Knight Rises was the shizzle two weeks ago.

Pig Newton-
An HBO version of this would be da' bomb. But WB just doesn't have the creative effort (or balls) to do anything of this scale for television. Perhaps if they could mimic the style and grandeur of AMC's The Walking Dead- now THAT would be something I would be game for. That show's been great so far.
