"Dune" Remake May Be Dead by Spring

Posted: November 9th, 2010 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
"Dune" Remake May Be Dead by SpringSubmit Comment
Deadline is reporting that if Paramount Pictures doesn't begin filming the "Dune" remake by spring, the rights to the property will revert back to the owners, who will not grant another option extension.

The studio is not killing the project quite yet. The plan is to keep working on the movie until time runs out. If Paramount doesn't see a way to make the film a success, it would rather lose the money already spent acquiring the option and on early development, rather than risk another $100 million.

At this point, Paramount has a script by Chase Palmer and is in talks with "Taken" helmer Pierre Morel to direct the film.

Update: Pierre Morel has quit the project.

Dead By Spring. Why has no one used that as a movie title yet?

I for one would actually like to see this remade. I was on the fence about the tv mini series they did a few years back but with today's fx, a remake would be visually amazing. The story is already there so they can't screw that up and make it any less than what it was.
I say go for it.

bad acting aside, I actually enjoyed the two tv series. All excruciating 16 hours or so of it.
