"Rubik's Cube" is Becoming a Movie

Posted: November 5th, 2010 by WorstPreviews.com Staff

In the last few years, big toy properties have attracted some of the biggest Hollywood directors to turn the toys into Hollywood films. While Ridley Scott is figuring out "Monopoly" and Peter Berg is putting the final touches on "Battleship," CAA (the biggest talent agency) is now putting together a package for a "Rubik's Cube" movie.

The agency, that represents such talent as George Clooney, Oprah Winfrey, Brad Pitt and many others, is currently speaking to various studios and producers about structuring the film, which is rumored to revolve around a Rubik's Cube competition.

With such a big agency on board and following the current trend in Hollywood, the movie is expected to attract a very well-known director and star. Stay tuned.

Why is it everytime I think Hollywood has hit rock bottom, someone keeps tossing them a shovel?

speaking of shovel, they should make a movie about that while they're at it.

The 80s cartoon had a decent plot that would work for a kids movie. Rubik the cube was alive and had awesome powers when solved. These Mexican kids would always have to find him after someone steals him.

CANDYLAND! Now there's a plot! Kids eat so much candy they start tripping balls!
Would Mouse Hunt be considered a loose adaptation of Mouse Trap?
How about Hangman, as a dark western?
sh*t, let's just throw them card games and see what comes out! That'll be fun!

All the Fuss is about the intensity of the film and the effects on a very shoe string budget

they should get Stallone for this and call it

Ranger writes:

Or they should just call this movie 'Expendable' and not do it.
c-prime writes:

@ Ranger: In all honesty, I liked the first one. I wouldn't say it's a horrifying movie or anything. The first eighty minutes or so are more comedic than they are scary. However, the last ten minutes of it were a tad unsettling, I admit. For a horror movie to render even that minimal effect on me in this day and age is a hell of an accomplishment. Give it a chance, maybe, if you can find it somewhere cheap.

As for the sequel, it has it's moments, but they're few and far between - it's ultimately forgettable.
Rambo writes:

spoiler!

in the end the lead character throw's the cube with anger and go to have something to eat.

heres the plot
the main character is given 1hr to solve the rubiks cube if he doesn't a plane full of supermodels will die. heres the problem the guy is COLOR BLIND but his partner isnt ooh and his partner is a dog
minkowski writes:

It could work. They did make a movie about playing Nintendo games, a little film called Wizards, and I think that one turned out fine. Just make it about people entering a Rubik's Cube competition, make it about the people and the personal interactions, and it could work.

Hell, they made a friggin' Facebook movie, and Facebook f*cking sucks. Biggest waste of server space and bandwidth since ICQ, IMO. But hey, look at what Fincher wrought from that substandard material.

So I would say give it a chance.

What type of moron would make a film adaption of rubik's cube. There are only a few directors such as Cameron,Nolan,Craven,Rodriguez,Tarantino,Carpenter,And Spielberg that come up with GOOD ideas when it comes to there dedication to filmaking.Hollywood sure is going downhill. What's next 3D movie In 3D.True movie fans deserve better than this!
