"Saw 3D" Takes First Place with $24 Million

"Saw 3D" Takes First Place with $24 MillionSubmit Comment
"Saw 3D" opened in 2D and 3D theaters this weekend, grossing around $24 million, with 92% of the money coming from 3D venues. The film not only made back its $20 million budget, but also took first place at the domestic box office, surpassing "Paranormal Activity 2."

Unfortunately, the seventh "Saw" installment was still well short of a franchise record, which went to "Saw 3" when it bowed to $33.6 million back in 2006. It did, however, performed much better than the last installment, which opened to only $14.1 million. "Saw 3D" has been promoted as the final chapter, but talks of a reboot have been rumored.

"Paranormal Activity" sequel, which cost only $2.5 million to make, came in second place with $16.5 million, bringing it's two week total to $65.7 million. A third installment is already being considered.

How any more of these can be crapper out when the titled character dies at part 3? Unless they wanna sh*t out some idea that he's actually still alive

Saw III was the best. IV was the worst.
Glad to hear PA2 was beaten. Hate this boring sh*t.

I agree that Saw 4 was the worst, but I didn't care for Saw 3. I thought 1 and 2 were the best.

I'm proper surprised this film has done so well considering what a lack of intrest everyone had in saw 34 or whatever the most recent one was!

Watching this movie was a blood-bath, literally. There were some parts that made want to go walking out of the theater, but not because they were gory, but because some of plot parts were repeatable, and what about Hoffman (the bad guy) walking into a police precinct, killing six police officer, which most didn't had a damn gun and were dumb-looking. Honestly, Saw 1, 2, and 6 were the best ones, this is just a pretext to gain money.

Interesting thought of the day dedicated to Lionsgate: It never hurts to create a new franchise. you don't have to keep coming up with the same thing over and over again.

f*ck REBOOTS. There should be a 20 year wait on something before it's allowed to be re-booted. f*ck

to be honest ive always loved saw. i disagree with IV being the worst, V i think was. but anyway this one was good in my opinion but i think if they wouldve just went with the original script instead of combining the scripts for this and part 8 it wouldve had a stronger plot and more backstory w/ hoffman, gordon, gibson, and jigsaw. but just with the way things ended and the whose still standing id like to see one more just to tie off the loose ends then let it rest. no more sequels after 8 and no reboots or remakes.

also...for being the "last" i left the theater happy but wishing i knew who the 2 masked jigsaw killers were at the end along with (SPOILER******)who kidnapped hoffman and also wishing i wouldve seen more of tobin bell for the last go around as well. which is why i think they will make one more just to tie everything off and answer the last few questions. especially since this did so well.

I hope this is the last.

No more sequels or reboots, please.

BEST review I've seen for a movie: Saw 3D..."The 3D is bad. The acting is bad. The kills and torture sequences are mediocre. The ending is underwhelming. Do you really want to spend $15 dollars to see this movie?" lmao what a rip

OT (sorta):
hmm so i finally got around to checking out PA2... really wasn't that bad ... definitely way more entertaining then the first one and i did like the first one... loved how it all came full circle at the end and loved how the Demon was more aggressive in this one... but it was so f*cked up how it was messing with the baby... i have a nephew the same age and it really f*cked with my head lol

If you can remember, Friday the 13th had a final chapter (pt4). Nightmare on elm street had a final nightmare (pt6) and even Holloween claimed they came to and end but in all cases they were ressurected with a new begining and a brand new nightmare. These damn movies aint never gonna stop till they start to loose a sh*t load of money.

On another note, Jackass 3D has now passed the $100 million mark. If the guys signed up to get a percent of the gross profit, they should be very happy with their paychecks.
Rambo writes:

they should have called this franchise after the first one : "so?"
telur writes:

hey they can make SAW movies without JIGSAW, like Bourne movies without Bourne
