"Independence Day" Director Working on Secret Alien Invasion Movie

"Independence Day" Director Working on Secret Alien Invasion MovieSubmit Comment
Roland Emmerich, the man behind "Independence Day," "Godzilla," "The Day After Tomorrow" and "2012," is back with another disaster movie, this time is a smaller way.

The new films is called "The Zone," and while plot details are not known, it will be in the "found footage" genre similar to "Cloverfield" and revolve around an alien invasion. The cast will be relative unknowns.

THR says that two leads were just cast, one playing a haggard journalist in his 40s or 50s, the other a black man in his early to mid 20's, the cameraman. Shooting will begin in November.

*sigh* another alien disaster movie. Oh well, at least Roland is specialized in doing that kind a movie.

Nuthin like taking a concept that *was* fresh (Cloverfield) and making it your own garbage.

Cuz Universal Soldier is Emmerich's least favorite movie of his own, bandolero999.

What floors me is I swear Roland Emmerich said somewhere that 2012 was going to be his last disaster flick. I mean really how much more disastrous can you get (Story wise and visually LOL). And why bother doing this alien Invasion movie when ID42 is waiting to be made. Emmerich needs to get his priorities checked, and possibly his memory. I mean what happened to the Shakespeare flicks I read he was going in the LA Times?

Roland Emmerich is a pile of junk. 2012 was one of the most politically-charged, America-hating, racially patronizing heaps of donkey d*ck and monkey dung I've ever f*cking seen.

10,000BC was bullsh*t. What, tropical paradises within walking distances from parched deserts? Buwahahaha! Geography for the mentally depraved, that one.

Day after Tomorrow? You mean that sh*tty Jake Gyllenhall vehicle based on Al Gore's brain dead wet dream? Oh, gee, look, all the Americans have to break into Mexico, so look at me, I'm Roland Emmerich and I approve of illegal immigration. But you bet he wouldn't want homeless people stealing his refrigerator.

And so on with every film that loser has made. Nothing but crap.

And the Universal Soldier film, while good for action, had one of the most retarded scripts in history. Van Damme's character shows up on ma and pa's doorstep, decades after he 'died', looking just like he did back then, and his parents tell him to come on in, it's raining or something stupid like that. No shock, no thought, just slack-jawed recitation of their lines from the moribund script.

Now, that little gem was almost as bad as the part in Deep Impact, when Morgan Freeman, pretending to be Obama before Obama, tells the world, on the eve of total global annihilation: if the world does go on, it won't go on for everyone.

Yes, he does say just that, to the entire planet, right before he takes a cozy helicopter ride into a safe, warm, well-stocked underground bunker.

Who writes this unmitigated crap?

Whats up with making secret movies?
And don't it stop being secret exactly when they say they are making a secret movie?
So the headline here should have said "Independence Day Director Working on Alien Invasion Movie"
minkowski writes:

People, people, I don't think the film itself is secret. The aliens in the film are secret, not news of the film itself. Jesus.

Recall the 'secret' aliens of V, or Invasion of the Bodysnatchers or They Live....THAT kind of secret.

Alex should get a thesaurus, I think, because he's using the wrong words which lead the leaden folks astray.
