Matt Damon to Make New "Jason Bourne" Movie After "Bourne Legacy"?

Matt Damon to Make New "Jason Bourne" Movie After "Bourne Legacy"?Submit Comment
Director Tony Gilroy (Michael Clayton) is working on "Bourne Legacy," the fourth installment in the franchise that won't bring back Matt Damon or his Jason Bourne character. Gilroy has revealed that the story will take place in the same world as the first three films and will leave room for Damon and director Paul Greengrass (Bourne Ultimatum) to return.

Entertainment Weekly has now caught up with Damon, who revealed that he and Greengrass are planning their comeback. "I think it's a smart thing to do. It doesn't interfere with Paul and me doing a movie," he explained. "Tony doesn't want to hurt the Bourne story. So as I understand it, Jason Bourne is alive in the world that Tony's going to create. I don't appear in it, but it's very much that world. As far as Paul and I are concerned, as long as there's room for us to come in and do another one, we're thrilled."

Despite the fact that Universal Pictures and Greengrass had a public dispute regarding the franchise, Damon admitted that the plan was always for him to reprise the role. "I knew that they were trying to figure out a way to reboot it without killing our ability to do another one," said the actor.

When asked if there is a tentative start date set for Damon's new Jason Bourne movie, he said: "My guess is if they're going to do this one, it's going to come out in 2012. So they're probably not going to hustle to get ours going. So I think we have a little time, which is always nice for us because we'd be able to come up with a script."

I know what is going to happen. He will be the invisible Jason Bourne. The title of the next Bourne movie should be: The Invisible Bourne: Nothing!!! Hahahaha!!! That should work!!!

The Bourne-series was a rare franchise in that it was a modern trilogy that was good through and through, and actually improved in later installments. That is something that seldom happens these days. Now they are going to f*ck that reputation straight up. Good work, you f*cktards

Fruedian-Good call. There are f*cking this up, then again why am I not surprised.

That's the trouble when something is popular freudian..the studios then see it as a cash cow...and completely f*ck it up!

f*ck you and your franchise. The 1st one was OK, but after that the fat f*ck who directed the last 2 was masturbating while filming, and that wasn't pleasant at all.

By the time Damon decides to come back the only stunts he will be able to do is limp around and beat someone over the head with his walker because he will be too old

Has any of these jackwagons in Hollywood ever read any Ludlum books? You could make a dozen of them and they would all be like the Bourne series. If you're worried about a franchise, you've got at least two movies in the Matarese storyline. Stay faithful to the books and the fans will flock!

I meant "have any." Sorry

This is plausable. He could portray Jason Boure, who has isolated himself from the spy community in order to try to live a normal life. In the third movie, they thought they had killed Bourne (when he wound up in the river). But you saw that Matt (Jason) swam away. That is perfect for this franchise. If Jason goes into hiding from Touchstone (which has other spies out there like cooks in the soup, as it were), then the likely thing they would do with the franchise is have the new character who finds out he too was part of the Touchstone project to run afoul with the new bad lead guy of the project, who is looking to either take him out or seduce him back into the agency. The newbie then tries to contact Jason (later on), to recruit his help in defeating Touchstone.

Knowing Hollywood formulas, ten in one says this is the formulat they will go with. This also identifies Bourne in a way that could not have worked with the Bond franchise. Anyone could have and could be working with Touchstone. So it places this franchise more in thematic terms with Mission Impossible (the way the series was developed) in that anyone could work for the company/agency.

One tiny problem : They already tried.

Green Zone was Bourne-Lite. And it was not as successful.

Umm, a Bourne film without Bourne isn't a Bourne film, faggot *ssholes. That's like making a Nightmare on Elm Street film without Freddy Krueger and instead, substituting in two hours of Robin Williams stand-up 'comedy'.

It is clear to me now, this new Bourne movie will feature a British agent that will be hunting a shadowy organization known only as Quantum....oh wait sorry.......
