Zagat Selects "The Godfather" as Best Film of All TimeSubmit Comment
The Zagat guide is usually good for finding a good restaurant or shop, but it has also become the place to go to find out which movie to watch.

The guide has put together a list of the best one thousand movies of all time, which is based on over twenty thousand people who voted on the topic. Zagat then added their 30-point scale, which includes overall quality, acting, story, and production value.

"This new survey puts the ratings and reviews of over 20,000 avid moviegoers at your fingertips so that no matter what your age, sex or preference, there's an easy way to find the perfect film for every occasion," said Tim Zagat, CEO and Co-Founder of Zagat Survey.

Top films based on Overall Quality:

1. The Godfather (1972)

2. The Godfather Part II (1974)

3. Casablanca (1942)

Citizen Kane as number 13 ? What the f*ck ?

Zagat sounds too much like Zagnut. And that's an insult to the candybar.

Citizen Kane at #13. How about #10,000,000,000. What an absolute boring piece of sh*t. I've seen every film on the list so I know a good film when I see it. This is not one of them. Just my opinion.

Any list that doesn't include Pulp Fiction at the top 3 is simply pathetic.

No Apocalypse Now?

No Seven Samurai?

No Scorsese?

NO KUBRICK?

What a list! What a selection!

I'd give "Mahmud's Doggie Doners" a four star review then.

So THE PIANIST is the only film, made outside the United States, that made the list?

Fellini? Bergman? Bu˝uel? Bresson? Tarkovsky? Kurosawa? Antonioni? Dreyer?

professional or not, this is ONLY zagat's opinion...nothing more, nothing less...just because the films they put on their list isn't acceptable to everyone doesn't mean it has to be...if however the oscars made a list of top films, that would be a different story and a different list as well
DaveThePhotoGuy writes:

The only good thing I see about this list is that it show's how bad the movies are now that none of them really made the list.

@Kurskij- Kubrick is up there, Dr. Strangelove

Never saw some of these, so I can't comment on some of them, including Citizen Kane. I will say I think Shawshank Redemption should be a little higher. Good to see Star Wars pretty high, and tough to argue with the Godfather being at or near the top.

But where is Secret of My Success?? Awesome movie!!! lol
