Robert De Niro and Sylvester Stallone in "Grudge Match" Boxing Movie?

Robert De Niro and Sylvester Stallone in "Grudge Match" Boxing Movie?Submit Comment
Back in May, it was reported Warner Bros acquired a pitch by Tim Kelleher (First Kid, "In Living Color") for a boxing movie called "Grudge Match." Now comes word from Production Weekly that Sylvester Stallone and Robert De Niro are in talks to star as the film's two leads.

Similar in tone to "Space Cowboys," the new movie revolves around retired boxers Billy "The Kid" McGuigan and Henry "Razor" Sharp, lifelong bitter rivals who are coaxed out of retirement and into the ring for one final grudge match -- 50 years after their last title fight.

Kelleher was hired to write the script, which he probably already finished. "Grudge Match" is being produced by Bill Gerber (Gran Torino, Get Carter) and "Ghost Rider" director Mark Steven Johnson, who may end up helming the picture.

If cast, Stallone and De Niro will re-team after starring together in James Mangold's 1997 "Copland." Both actors are also known for their boxing movies, which are "Raging Bull" and "Rocky."

Wonder if they can dig up Burgess Meredith's corpse, so Stallone can cry on camera, as the maggots and roaches are crawling over the bones ....

... Deniro in a boxing movie at this stage in his life ? Less like Raging Bull and more like Raging Bullsh*t...

They oughta get Tyson to do a cameo with a ear tied to a string hung around his neck, " Oh this ? It's a fashion accessory. "

So... they were 14 when they fought for the title? Wow! Mike Tyson is in tears.

I wanna know how much Stallone will rip off his own character and put it into this movie?

"coaxed out of retirement and into the ring for one final grudge match -- 50 years after their last title fight."

Isn't that the plot behind Rocky Balboa?

No offence to De Niro, Stallone will kill you

50 years??! So Robert De Niro's character was 17 and Sylvester Stallone's was 14 when they last faught? I actually thought this might be a supernatural boxing movie with the pugilists possessed by Takeo and Kayako who want to settle their grudge once and for all... ;)

i didn't like that last Rocky movie...and after 'meet the fockers' i'm pretty sure robert deniro wouldn't want to aggravate his sciatica...but sure why not?...beats watching a bunch of new age talentless stars who have no morals or good films

I'm all for a movie starring these two, however, I only want to see Stallone as Rocky.
