Mark Wahlberg Offered Lead in "The Crow" Remake

Posted: October 20th, 2010 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
Mark Wahlberg Offered Lead in "The Crow" RemakeSubmit Comment
Back in February, it was reported that director Stephen Norrington (Blade, Extraordinary Gentlemen) was putting together a pitch for "The Crow" remake, with plans of filming during the summer. That obviously didn't happen.

Now comes word from Bloody-Disgusting that Mark Wahlberg has been offered the lead role in the film, which is currently getting a re-write from Nick Cave (The Proposition).

"The Crow" was created in 1989 by James O'Barr and follows a young man named Eric Draven who assumes the identity of The Crow in order to avenge the murder of his fiancee. In 1994, director Alex Proyas adapted "The Crow" into a feature film starring the late Brandon Lee, which spawned three sequels.

Norrington's "Crow" is reportedly a new take on the material and does not use the Eric Draven character. The plan is to make the franchise much darker and take place during present-day Detroit.

Speaking of sucking balls, I gotta ask if Marky Mark Wahlberg is really enjoying the amount of protein coming from Stephen Norrington's sperm, as he is sucking deep on Stephen's d*ck, so hard that it causes a sucking sound like Wahlberg's career, cira Rock Star.

Norrington is the only motherf*cker that owes Brett Ratner for his career and has made Connery looks like utter sh*t (other than The Avengers).

f*ck Norrington and Wahlberg with an AIDs infested monkeyd*ck.

The original one was great. If they decide to make it different enough it might be decent, but not with Mark Wahlberg.
SaulSilver writes:

Have the producers not seen Max Payne? Marky Mark is not at his best playing Brooding, Tortured characters. Keep him in his wheelhouse....Take No BS from no one Cops & Talking to Animals.
SaulSilver writes:

If MacGruber got a movie, then surely "Mark Wahlberg talks to animals definitely does.

By "much darker" they mean using that sh*t looking green lens filter, Rappers as co-stars and Teen Vampires.

FAIL

Pass this one up Wahlberg, I like you.

Darker? Because the original movie was so very light and bright with fornicating unicorns.

Why not get someone like Tony Jaa for the lead ...

if it's not the same story as the original, doesn't that mean it's NOT a remake?...just put the original back in theaters...i wouldn't want tony jaa or jason scott lee to suffer the same fate as brandon...and brandon himself would not be ok with this
bandolero999 writes:

There was another article about the crow being rebooted with jason statham to be the lead but I guess it got changed. The first crow was the best one of all of them but there's no reason to remake this is a simple story a guy being killed and resurected by the crow to take revenge.

They sure as hell won't have Jason Scott Lee his careers in the sh*tter the last movie he was in was Balls of fury for like 5 seconds and it sure as hell wouldn't be in the theater.DVD

Tony Jaa wasn't he retiring to be a monk?

Mudders writes:

how can you possibly make it darker than the original....no need for this movie....opt out mark
Flav writes:

Pathetic choice! Brandon lee is the true Eric Draven. The only actor that even fit in this genre is Taylor Kitsch. Got the look!
rabid writes:
on October 20th, 2010 at 7:01:12 AM

You're just going based on looks. Brandon Lee was a terrible actor.
Wahlberg only a little bit better, but the Crow comic books have opened up the mythology quite a bit. There have been so many new interpretations on the character. I'm curious where it can go, since the whole goth angle is played out.
bill the butcher writes:

DisasterBlaster writes:

When the f*ck has Hollywood ever taken an already dark film and made it darker? And no Eric Draven? So the movie consists of Wahlberg running around in a crow suit, punching people.

Darker than the original??! So the lead character will have his children tortured to death in front of him (and us) and the rest of movie will take place in total darkness then?

Nick Cave is a huge fan of the Crow comic books. I'm interested to see what he can do. I hear that other movie he scripted is one of the grittiest westerns ever made.
Ranger writes:

No on Eric Draven.

Yes on Frank Drebin.

Cast Leslie Nielsen and make this a comedy!
Aaron writes:
on October 20th, 2010 at 10:38:01 PM

really? (about cave being a fan of the book?)
Seems a little too "goff" for him.. hmm..

The Proposition was great. Excellent final scene.
I also read a script he supposedly wrote for a gladiator sequel.. while as a sequel it was kinda odd - as a stand alone film it was pretty cool.

Hmm..

Didn't Wahlberg already make a Crow movie, but call it Max Payne instead? Just sayin' cuz it makes no sense TO REMAKE YOUR OWN GODDAMN 2 YEAR OLD MOVIE!
