James Franco Doesn't Deny "Alien" Prequel Rumor

Posted: October 20th, 2010 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
James Franco DoesnSubmit Comment
Just yesterday, Bloody-Disgusting reported that James Franco is in talks to star in Ridley Scott's "Alien" prequels. Considering that the actor is also in a "Planet of the Apes" prequel, the news seemed a bit odd.

During the press conference for "127 Hours" (in theaters November 5th), I (Alex) had the chance to ask Franco about the rumor. "Yeah, that's weird news huh?," he said, then joking: "Maybe I can [play Robert] Mapplethorpe in the 'Alien' movie."

Mapplethorpe is an American photographer, who Franco will portray in an upcoming biopic.

I then re-asked the same question, giving Franco several chances to deny the rumor, but he refused to do so. The only thing he went on to say is: "I just heard about it on the internet like yesterday."

The fact that he wouldn't deny it and chose his words very carefully (and slowly) during his answer makes me think that there have been some talks and he doesn't feel comfortable speaking about this yet. Stay tuned.

No matter, if he's in it he'll have a good death scene.

Franco will f*ck this up. Of course, it's already doomed to be f*cked up since it's going to be PG-13.

"I neither confirm or deny" is tantamount to "no comment" since when did no comment become a story?

I don't want to be a bitch about it, but "not denying" is not the same as "confirming".

why wouldn't he admit it?...it's not like he's revealing spoilers or anything...just his involvement with it...either way, i wouldn't be surprised, it's just an alien prequel...not like it would be better than any other alien film, except AVP 1 and 2...and if there ever is an AVP 3, they better have a big army fight of aliens vs predators...something that franchise has yet to show

btw, did anybody else notice that the last alien prequel article said 'alien prequels' making it plural with an S??...i didn't know they were planning on making more than one

Yeah Synthetic, after reading about it actually read pretty much everywhere Ridlye's planning shooting two back to back (I thiink?...) Either way though there is gonna be two.

@ jdl107...hmm, well still, i grew up watching the sigorney weaver alien films since i was a toddler...i mean the first and second one anyway...and from my point of view, any alien film without sigorney weaver isn't good in my book....but what i really don't get is how this prequel discovers the aliens and their origin...i thought that's what alien and aliens were doing...and the best part about that whole trilogy, even resurrection, they STILL didn't know where they came from...i still liked resurrection too...great cast...brad dourif played an excellent psycho scientist just like he played an excellent psycho chuckie doll
synthetic1985 writes:

all in all though...i'll probably end up giving it a watch...but i won't pay for it

would've been interesting to see james cameron make alien 3...without newt's character being killed off just because the actress aged a few years...probably would've measured up really well compared to aliens
