The Amazon product description for "Transformers 3 Push-Pops Board Book" contains the official plot summary for "Transformers 3: The Dark of the Moon." Read it below.
Plot: The Autobots Bumblebee, Ratchet, Ironhide and Sideswipe led by Optimus Prime, are back in action, taking on the evil Decepticons, who are determined to avenge their defeat in 2009's "Transformers Revenge of the Fallen." In this new movie, the Autobots and Decepticons become involved in a perilous space race between the US and Russia, and once again human Sam Witwicky (Shia LaBeouf) has to come to the aid of his robot friends. There's new characters too, including a new villain in the form of Shockwave, a longtime "Transformers" character who rules Cybertron while the Autobots and Decepticons battle it out on Earth.
The third movie, which is said to be the last for Michael Bay and LaBeouf, is set to hit theaters on July 1st, 2011.

wow what a stupid plot, and i thought the whole time that cybertron was being ruled by either megatron or the fallen...so basically, the director just took a dump on all fans of the cartoon by not even including galvatron or unicron...cue the reboot...not really...a reboot wouldn't prove worthy unless the next director ONLY listens to what fans want to see out of it...cuz we all know michael bay didn't

I love how everyone has complained for years about how Bay doesn't listen to the fans, yet nobody seems to have ever heard of Shockwave and him ruling Cybertron.
Every day I'm more convinced that a lot of people never watched G1 and/or read the Marvel comics. Do some research. You may not be so upset over every move Bay makes.

Synthetic1985....you must not be a fan of the old show. Shockwave was ruling cybertron while megatron was away, under megatrons orders. Galvatron had nothing to do with anything until Unicron took megatrons broken husk and changed him to Galvatron. He never ruled cybertron and instead led the decepticons from the planet charr. Unicron only ever wanted to eat cybertron. Lindsey Lohan has a dump for you...

It appears that bay is using every iteration of transformers (except for beast wars and machine wars) in some form including the sh*tty armada series and then throwing in his ideas for transformers ie the twins...plus they didnt write the movies as a trilogy to begin with so they end up making crap up as they went along causing many errors in continuity. I still liked the first one though and hopefully there will be enough crap exploding including the twins to make up for it
