Two Magnetos to Star in "The Hobbit"Submit Comment
With the recent announcement that "The Hobbit" prequels have been greenlit, director Peter Jackson (Lord of the Rings) is now putting together a cast before filming begins in February.

Ian McKellan and Andy Serkis are expected to return as Gandalf and Gollum, Martin Freeman (Hot Fuzz) will soon be set to play Bilbo Baggins, and Jimmy Nesbitt, Michael Fassbender (Inglourious Basterds) and David Tennant ("Doctor Who") are being pursued for other roles.

For those wondering about the title of this article, McKellan played Magneto in the "X-Men" trilogy and Fassbender is currently starring as young Magneto in "X-Men: First Class."

Since you put it that way, if they're both in the same scene does that mean that magneto is playing with himself?

It's physics baby. They'll be attract a lot more cash.

(off topic) Personally, it is a fact this movie may replenish the exhausted MGM studio, but I fear for the quality of the film. I keep thinking why Jackson was reluctant to helm the project. He is overrated as a director and I believe TLOTR trilogy was a fluke for him. The films kicked ass because he was so in love with the books there was no way to screw it up. Hope he outperforms himself with The Hobbit.

Man I hope they dont make these movies 3D. That would be gay

joedirt you'll be disappointed to know then that they WILL be filming both Hobbit movies in 3D. It's already been confirmed.

Fassbender is the better choice for Magneto anyhow. Granted I cried on about them never casting Rutger Hauer as f*cking Magneto as they grabbed frail looking Ian McKellan. He makes an awesome Gandalf but a poor Magneto.
