"Pineapple Express" Sequel May Be Like "Scarface"

"Pineapple Express" Sequel May Be Like "Scarface"Submit Comment
MTV caught up with director David Gordon Green at the New York Comic-Con and asked him about the rumored sequel to "Pineapple Express," which grossed over $100 million on a $26 million budget.

Green said that talks have been going on ever since the first film hit theaters back in 2008. "We keep talking to the studio about it and they're going to organize a dinner some day and this dinner has been talked about for about two years now," he explained. "We're going to get together and throw all the millions of ideas that we have into a pot and see if there's any reason to make that movie."

He continued: "The most interesting spin is to go in a 'Scarface' direction,. You could get me back in the ring with [Seth Rogen and James Franco] any day of the week. I want to see them in the Miami coke scene, it could get a little gruesome. Or maybe take it in the 'Clear and Present Danger' direction and go to South America. You know, there's a few avenues that are maybe a little bit worthy of more than a barroom napkin scribble of an idea."

Are you f*cking kidding me ? It was a stoner/adventure/comedy. How the f*ck is the sequel ever going to be like Scarface ? Are the lead characters going to stab Cubans in detention camps with switchblades ? Is Seth's character going to go with James' character to a coke deal where James' character gets handcuffed to a shower rod then cut up into shark sized chunks of flesh and bone in the tub ? Is Seth's character going to wind up with a AK-47 given to him by Danny's f*cking character, with which he will blow away mobsters, all the while walking around in a vest, tie, coat and his underwear, white-face from all the coke he's snorted up that Karl Malden size schnoz of his ?

f*ck that.

They don't really know what the f*ck to do. They're just spitting what-if's from the scribblings of a table napkin. They need to take that napkin and clean up the BULLsh*t he just spewed.

Yeah, because we all know the trusted method of "let's throw out an idea and see if it sticks" has always led to asses in seats.

Case in point :

Magic 8-Ball, the Movie

Quiji Board, the Movie

Battlesh*t, the Movie

Vampires Suck

Meet the Spartans

Date Movie

Disaster Movie (a name that fit that movie PERFECTLY)

Batman & Robin

Epic Movie

I was a little disappointed with Pineapple Express (expectations to HIGH i guess) and these ideas for a second part sound pretty stupid.....

@Amadeus - ques: why are you requesting Max to 'calm down'?

Is impassioned, entertaining, well-informed, fact-based, opinion-laden posting thus contributing verboten on this site? Did his posts have too many words for you to follow? Are you unfamiliar with the scroll wheel feature of your computers mouse?

Yeah the first one sucked. Great performances and had potential. But it just couldn't hit the mark.

the whole point to pineapple express is what the title is, marijuana, if they would go south, and i mean the deep south with this, it would loose the whole point of why the first film was so great!

@Amadeus

I'm actually a bastardus don'tgiveaf*ckus.

I know I could have had a conniption and then fell over from my deteriorating pleather reclining chair after passionately arguing how Pineapple Express and Scarface are two far poles on the edges of a very long spectrum, but really ... I feel for Michelle Pfeiffer, who would be asked by Seth, " So how's retirement ? " without realizing that this goddess of an actress starred in to, very sexy movies ... The Witches of Eastwick and Batman Returns, where she showed young goths how to wear leather alluringly ... and Michelle would just arch an eyebrow, look at the Scarface Movie, Pineapple Excessive : Thw World is ALMOST Yours, But Not Quite and call up her agent and say, " What the f*ck is this ? Am I being Punked ? "

That's all.

By the way, love the name and avatar. It's nice to know you've named your character after a guy portrayed by Tom Hulce as an absolute idiot savant *sshole who whored, probably snorted snuff out of boxes like Ozzy snorted ants from an anthill and farted in the general direction of Solieri everytime the two guys were in the same room.

They do know that just cause you smoke marijuana doesnt mean you do coke, right? Pineapple express was a stoner comedy and theyre trying to make the sequel into a cokehead action movie?? Have they lost their minds.
