Darren Aronofsky Offered to Direct "Wolverine" Sequel

Darren Aronofsky Offered to Direct "Wolverine" SequelSubmit Comment
Now that Darren Aronofsky is no longer in talks to direct the "Superman" reboot, 20th Century Fox has entered negotiations with the helmer to take on the sequel to last year's "X-Men Origins: Wolverine."

Until recently, Aronofsky was far more interested in directing Warner Bros' "Superman" reboot, but that job went to Zack Snyder. Warners meanwhile is still working not to lose Aronofsky and has offered him "Tales From the Gangster Squad," a high-priority project for the studio.

According to producer Lauren Shuller Donner, the sequel "will really focus on the relationship between Wolverine and Mariko, the daughter of a Japanese crime lord, and what happens to him in Japan. Mariko's father has this stick-like weapon, so Wolverine will have to fight against that. There will be samurai, ninja, katana blades, different forms of martial arts - mano-a-mano, extreme fighting."

"Wolverine 2" is written by Christopher McQuarrie (Valkyrie, The Usual Suspects) and will begin shooting in January.

Since Donner still doesn't want to say anything of interest about this flick, I would just like to once again point out -

"Mariko's father has this stick-like weapon, so Wolverine will have to fight against that."

Did that actually sound badass in her head right before she said it out loud?

Does anyone think Wolverine will be able to beat a guy who has a stick like weapon???? What is this stick made of, why cant he slice through it. Is the stick from the future, does it have jewels inbedded into it. There are so many unanswered questions, we want to know more about that f*cking stick!

Hold up, one motherf*cking moment ... didn't they offer Tales From The Gangester Squad to Affleck ? What the f*ck is going on ??? Darren, if you have any common sense in your head, you'll back away from 20th Century Skank with your back facing AWAY from them.

I don't care is Christopher is writing this. He's an excellent writer, but 20th Century Fox is a sh*ttty f*cking production company ... and going down fast.

Any bets this movie will get leaked on the Internet before public release also (sans CGI) ????

uhm, a spear ? A staff ? a baseball bat ? A limb from a tree ?

Vdod-you're right, the whole weight of the movie and it's success depends on that stick lol. It can't be any worse than what the 1st was.

How will they handle the Silver Samurai?

Plus, I hope they don't go mentally retarded on origins, time-lines and characters like they did with Wolverine. The comics' and their canon is law.

Maybe she meant a drumstick.

Maybe Wolverine fights Tommy Lee.

This is Hollyweird. I wouldn't be surprised.

Makes sense. Hugh did play a flaming queer in the musical The Boy from Oz.

Goddamn Evil.Kev major kudos to your first post. The minute I read that it just sounded bad, and the fact that she threw that in with her decription of the movie made me kind've shudder. Lol. But then I saw that writer, so hopefully when she's done spouting her lame little action dreams they'll give us a good look into the movie.

No thanks are necessary.
