Tony Gilroy Hired to Direct "Jason Bourne 4"

Tony Gilroy Hired to Direct "Jason Bourne 4"Submit Comment
Universal Pictures is bringing on Tony Gilroy (Michael Clayton, Duplicity) to direct the fourth installment in the Jason Bourne franchise. Gilroy was the writer behind all three films in the franchise and also wrote the fourth one called "The Bourne Legacy."

No word on whether Matt Damon will reprise his role, but he last indicated that he will come back only if Paul Greengrass decided to helm another installment. Since Greengrass exited the franchise and Universal has already replaced him, it's safe to assume that Damon will be replaced as well. But that's just a guess at this point.

Damon also previously suggested that Universal Pictures should reboot the franchise with a new actor. At this point it's unclear whether the studio is doing just that, but it's unlikely since Gilroy's new Jason Bourne script focuses on continuing the storyline.

"Jason Bourne 4" without Damon? I don't think so.

Tony Gilroy is a good writer, as a director, no fate in him...

Paul Greengrass + Matt Damon = could work, now that the Bond franchise is in danger.

Ehhh...depends on who they get for Bourne. Gilroy can definitely pull it off though. He's a great screenwriter and proved with Michael Clayton he can direct. Although I hope we get the Clayton Gilroy and not the Duplicity one. That movie was pretty bad.

they'll probably get Matt Damon. If they don't, they'll have to make it a prequel (and we know how sh*tty prequels for movies have been lately) ... and for f*cks sakes, Tony .... NO MOTHERf*ckING SHAKY CAM!!!!! f*ckIN' BEHIND ENEMY LINES STARTED THAT WHOLE sh*t AND IF I SEE ONE f*ckING SHAKY CAM SCENE THAT MAKES ME HURL CHEAPASS MOVIE NACHOS, I'M f*ckING OUTTA THERE.

Tony Gilroy is better suited to be behind the script.

Boy it must be nice to turn down millions of dollars in this economy when people have had to take pay cuts or have lost their jobs

Im going to laugh at more studios like MGM going bankrupt in the near future because people are not going to be able to afford going see these $10 a show movies, due to more people being out of work

Well this could be a James Bond-ish move, different actor every few movies. It could work, Bond has been around forever and it sucks its in trouble, but it could work.
