"The Hobbit" to Get Greenlight in Next Few Days

"The Hobbit" to Get Greenlight in Next Few DaysSubmit Comment
According to LA Times, Warner Bros, New Line Cinema and MGM are working hard on "The Hobbit" prequels and have "nearly" finalized the deal to sign Peter Jackson (Lord of the Rings) to direct.

All the other issues that have jeopardized production have been resolved, including negotiations with the estate of original author JRR Tolkien. While MGM is still going through MGM financial issues, Warners and New Line are still willing to move forward. This will require, however, an agreement from more than 100 debt owners.

And regarding most of the major actor unions boycotting "The Hobbit," the paper says that the issue is also almost resolved. Although it's still unclear whether production will move from New Zealand to Europe as Jackson's previously threatened.

So what does all of this mean? LA Times claims that "The Hobbit" will likely get the greenlight within the next few days and production will then star mid-January.

Agreed. Nobody else could play Gandalf. Except maybe Lindsay Lohan. Man the Hobbit will be awesome, I love that book a lot more than I love the Lord of the Rings.

Speaking of Merry Ol' England ...

If they move production to the UK, I wonder if Ringo Starr will try to weasel his way in to play a hobbit in the background ...

and how are they gonna shoot it when every day is forecasting rain ?
