"Just Cause" Video Game to Become a Movie

"Just Cause" Video Game to Become a MovieSubmit Comment
L+E Pictures has acquired the rights to the "Just Cause" video game, which it will develop for the big screen Michael Ross (Turistas) is on board to write the script.

Property revolves around Rico Rodriguez, aka the Scorpion, a black ops agent who carries out deadly missions for the US government that come in the form of creating chaos and destabilizing rogue nations from within and turning the bad guys against each other.

The character's calling card is his grappling hook and penchant for aerial stunts with his unique parachute, putting him in unusual action scenarios like hijacking fighter jets in midair.

The first installment of the game, published by Eidos Interactive in 2006, sold one million units. The sequel, released in March, has already doubled that sales figure.

They should make this into a porn parody. Definitely. With Paris Hilton. And incorporate the grappling hook. Oh...except there's not really much left to grapple on to with her, too loose, it would be like trying to grapple a bunch of warm lettuce.

Awesome game I must say. But it should stay that way. I'm sick of things like Hitman and Prince of Persia coming to the big screen. Just like some things should be left as movies and not turned into games, some things should be left as games and not turned into movies.

If you want to watch an action flick with some dodgy Hispanic hero who runs around some poverty stricken Spanish speaking town with poor infrastructure shooting everyone in the head and blowing sh*t up, go rent a Robert Rodriguez film like El Mariachi.

Probaly like every other video game to movie adaption, it'll probaly unnecessarily be set in the future

Definitely. Except the Spanish colonial towns will still be in the past HEEEYOOOOOOO....racist.

In other words it'll be like Johnny Depp's character from "Once upon a time in Mexico" but with a grappling hook and a parachute? Ok, that actually sounded quite awesome. Nevertheless, games with no real story seldom makes good movies. So leave this game alone, and hey, speed up with motherf*cking BioShock!

Yeah except Depp's character is an American CIA operative, this guy is Cuban or something. Also, this guy won't get his eyes cut out with a spoon, what was up with that? Once upon a time in Mexico is the best in that trilogy, so good.

THEY SHOULD GET RODRIQUEZ TO DIRECT. Except he'll probably be too busy with f*cking spy kids 5 or some sh*t.

game with no story does not = "artistic" freedom...game with no story = sh*t movie

@Freudian
Great f*cking movie... Once Upon a Time in Mexico is a very under rated movie...

but Just Cause is one of those games you play for about 10 minutes and are immediately bored... then they tried to make a sequel JUST CAUSE 2 (what a title) and NO BODY bought it lol so why the hell are you making a movie about it? I can see them unnecessarily signing the The Rock for the lead role. I'd personally love to see Jason Statham do the role cause MAYBE I'd see that then

@ Ted: My cousin bought it. I've played it some, and I will assert that it is an exceptionally fun and zany game. Still, like every adaptation of a video game, I think this will make a staggeringly awful movie.

why are they making movies about video games that are new?
