Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson Could Play Sinbad in "Arabian Nights"

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson Could Play Sinbad in "Arabian Nights"Submit Comment
Production Weekly is reporting that Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is in talks to re-team with his "The Scorpion King" director Chuck Russell for "Arabian Nights" action-adventure movie. If cast, Johnson will play the role of Sinbad.

Written by Russell and Barry P. Ambrose, the period epic centers on a young commander who, after his king is murdered in a coup, joins forces with Sinbad, Ali Baba and the Genie from the magic lamp to rescue the queen, Scheherazade.

It was previously reported that Liam Hemsworth (The Last Song) was cast as the young commander, but the site is reporting that he will play Ali Baba. Anthony Hopkins, meanwhile, will play an evil sorcerer who killed Sinbad's love, a mermaid, and is looking to amass more magic for himself.

You Americans really need to acquaint yourself with other cultures. The Persian and Arabian ones first of all.

So now that you've welcomed the glorious Prince of Persia and while eagerly awaiting its sequel, you'll be able to keep in track with this fun movie, Arabian Nights, and the much more promising Thieves of Baghdad!

Yay!!

The cynic in me wonders why 'they' won't cast an Arab to play the worlds second most famous Arab?
shayhiri writes:

Cause then none of you Americans would watch it.

Simple, eh?

God dammit.. I remember in the Rundown when The Rock bumped into Arnold at the club in the first scene thinking Arnold passed his legacy onto The Rock.

Yeah, but have you SEEN Arnold's 'legacy', much less Arnold lately ?

^ And before anyone forgets about the 'family friendly films' one Arnold Swartzenegger welcomed his presence in :

a. Kindergarden Cop
b. Junior (a pregnant Arnold in drag. Not a pretty sight.)
c. Twins (the biological fraternal twin of Danny Devito's character. Their nuances ?
Uncanny.)

What kind of crack you smoking? Prince failed hard. 200Mil budget with only 90mil in earning? In what jacked universe is that indicating people welcoming the movie?

Maybe "you" should do more research before posting comments about weather people liked a film or not, which the profits clearly show.

Funny how you say Americans need to learn more culture when America is the largest collection of different cultures in the world.

Is it possible to lose intelligence as people grow? Oh wait just saw a picture of Lohan... Its true.

Cmon, duders...

Why keep denying it? You git served?

Do you think they watch pro-American movies in Iran/Persia? Not too many.

Then why are you the first in line to watch pro-Persian movies? Prince of Persia, now Arabian Nights, Thieves of Baghdad and PoP's sequel?

You're fcuked up, dogs.

Seems like the enemy is winning the first round of the War on Terror.

Admit it.

Wow, your idiocy is almost beyond comprehension. Once again I must use FACTS to square you away, now listen closely "duder".

Out of the roughly 503345 movies that have been made in history you are mentioning 4, that is less then .1%. So out of those 4 that you mentioned (most have not even been made yet) you make the assessment that if a film that bombed in the theaters and failed to make back its budget domestically by less then have is a sign that people like to watch pro Persian movies all of a sudden?

It is also amazing to me how you pull a Miss Cleo and see the past that somehow I was one of the people who actually wanted to or cared to see a movie that can not even fit the correct actors (white guy) for the time period in it. I would bet money that the majority of the people who read these post and comment here went to see that in any type of hurry.

And let me lay down some more FACTS for you. I am a soldier and have deployed several times, and OH guess what I saw people doing in your little a$$ crack of the world watching? AMERICAN MOVIES, they are even ripped and pirated by the tens of thousands there.

You seem to be one of those people who hate others for having belongings that you can not afford. I mean why else would you bring so much mindless hate and meaningless arguments here otherwise?

As JB pointed out, you did get served, as confirmed by your childish comments. Now bow down, STFU, and get in my pocket.

@Shay - stirring up the sh*t storm and giving Jake a break, yes?

'Do you think they watch pro-American movies in Iran/Persia? Not too many.' --- So? How many Americans watch Pro-Iran/Persian movies?

Answer: even less.

Not really getting your pointless point here.
Ranger writes:

If you're going to make a point of just arguing, discuss, interact, fine. Make it a point one can grab to defend/defeat.

How may Iranians/Persians watch Pro-American movies... I have NO idea. How do you (if you do, maybe include that knowledge within your post). Otherwise you're just speculating (with facts?) and spit-balling.

Its not the Iranians thats the problem its the regime.I work with an Iranian, sound as a pound, his family left during the revolution to settle in Britain,he hates Turks more than Americans. Religion on BOTH sides is the problem.
Ranger writes:
on October 2nd, 2010 at 12:53:29 PM

@shay - I never said I had anything against Iranians. To me it just seemed you were arguing against others no matter what they said. Your point was unclear to me. Thx. for the kind reply though.

And rocketman is quite right. Personally I don't think there are people anywhere I dislike... it's their regime's (not siting Iran), or governments. And I'm one of the many that thought the cause of 9/11 was perpetrated by those within the US. But that's another thread for another day.
