Mark Millar's "Nemesis" Has $150 Million Budget

We recently reported that Tony Scott (Enemy of the State) was interested in directing a big screen version of Mark Millar's "Nemesis" comic book and even talked about attaching Johnny Depp and/or Brad Pitt.

MTV News now caught up with Millar (Wanted, Kick-Ass), who gave an update on the project. "They reckon the budget on this thing will probably be around $150 million mark," he revealed. "It's a very expensive film, it's got a lot of big set pieces. So the nice thing is, it means we can hopefully afford who we want to work with."

Millar added that he would prefer Depp to star in the film rather than Pitt. And he wants to Scott to eventually direct. "Tony Scott has to be at the top of the list, he's a Hollywood legend. Every single person in the country probably has at least one of his movies on DVD."

While Millar's "Wanted" strayed from the source material, "Nemesis" will try to stick as close as possible to the comic. "I think it should be pretty much identical," he explained. "I think [Scott] is going to stay as faithful as he can."

"Nemesis" focuses on Matt Anderson, a billionaire genius who is the world's greatest fighter, bent on avenging the death of his beloved parents. The twist is, they were villains and he is also a bad guy, a costumed vigilante who travels the world, picking off top cops. He returns to Washington DC to launch a campaign of terror against Blake Morrow, the police chief who captured the caped vigilante's parents.

I just read issue #3 today and it was f*cking brutal. I'm cheering on the villain!
I hope the movie has me doing that.

Anybody else laugh at the concept of a genius billionaire who is the worlds greatest fighter?

Can these people not come up with ideas of getting these people gadgest/weapons that they always need to create the excuse of... OH, He's A BILLIONAIRE PROBLEM SOLVED!!!!!!!!!!

Issue 3 was worth the wait

@p3rfect
Its because these people are billionaires that they can afford to train and because theyre rich as f*ck they have more time on their hands

Were this Mark Millar's "sh*t Stain" I might think this was about a loser named Jake!

@Monash

True, but it feels like it's been done. Billionaires doing crazy bulls*** stuff.

Well, he blows many sh*t up, so it is expensive to shoot.

@p3rfect
Yeah it's been done but i tend to read his stuff for the obscenity he throws on top of the usual

SPOILERS
Artificially inseminating the daughter of the cop he's persuing with the semen of her homosexual brother and then rigging her womb to collapse if they try to abort it
That's why i read it
rabid writes:

Of course it's been done. That's the point. Millar just took the idea of Batman and turned it in on itself to the Nth degree. It's meant to be a farce.

I figure if Mark Millar had put the spin on it that Nemesis was the b@$t@rd son of Warren Buffett that spent his life learning gymanistics, Bolivian martial art fighting and endurance training, in between his sexcapades in brothels around the world ....

now that I would believe.

I'm reading the comic now. It's entertaining, but it's hilarously un-realistic. Adding random violence and gore to grab peoples attention.

Just finished issue 3 and its an amazing comic,can't wait to see it as long as the do stick close to the source material.

Sounds great, would rather watch this than the next Batman. Its like a bizzarol world Bruce Wayne. Batman under the red hood was better than the Dark Knight.

It only exist 3 issues, nut they are already giving it a 150 million budget? And despite the fact that Kick-Ass sort of flopped? They must really have faith in this character.

And just for the record: I don't have a Tony Scott film in my collection.
