Microsoft Still Working on "Halo" Movie

Microsoft Still Working on "Halo" MovieSubmit Comment
Variety is reporting that Microsoft is once again attempting to bring "Halo" to the big screen. Alex Garland (28 Days Later), Stuart Beattie (Pirates of the Caribbean), D.B. Weiss and Josh Olson (A History of Violence) are working with the company on story ideas, while Microsoft is making the video game for a much wider audience.

The main character is Master Chief, who has a great back story but is a faceless character since he never takes off his helmet. Microsoft believes that audiences will have trouble connecting to Master Chief, which is why "Halo: Reach" game offers players the ability to create their own soldiers.

"We're still interested in making an excellent 'Halo' movie," said Microsoft's Frank O'Connor. "We've created an awful lot of documentation and materials to support a feature film. We have a good idea of what kind of story we want to tell, but won't move on it until there's a great reason to do it. We're in no particular hurry."

He added that the film would likely be a standalone story and not "a verbatim retelling of the game."

The company is also considering a potential "Halo" TV series.

What's scary is that may last comment could be a possiblity considering some bizarre casting that has happened in movies before.

why second guess the built in audience that comes with the original.... comic book movies are finally understanding that they don't have to stray away or overtly tweak things to get more people.... adapt Halo the fall of Reach be smart and don't pull a Resident Evil because that sucks balls! and I will not watch it.

It would make a better television series first, then a movie. Similar to what they did for some BBC series, such as Ultraviolet.

I give this 80%/20% thier going to f*ck it up, thats why they're in no big hurry

microsoft wishes it had trusted Neill Blomkamp with Halo as his debut project; now he would make a video game film

HALO is an easy film to make as long as Chief isn't the main character, because he isn't a character. An ODST film or a REACH film would work the best. ODST should simply be Saving Private Halo. You take that exact concept foundation and "Haloize" it. Bring in some decent acting talent and have a great director & writer combo and BOOM huge success.

He's not neccesarily to be called Master Chief.

They have names.

Microsoft itself would have to make up for the long wait. Still, I believe they're going to crew it up, though.

Rocket- haha Rob Schneider

Pretty sure he had some dirt on Stallone , he had a small part in that movie and Demolition man as well around the same time , Now its Adam Sandler he has dirt on i think ...

Just get someone with an awesome voice worthy of Master Chief like Mickey Rourke (possibly?) or Thomas Jane (most definitely) and audiences won't mind having a faceless protagonist. I always liked the games because of that element, he was just such a badass and had a commanding voice. And if this ever gets made, it's gotta be like an epic 3 hour flick because if people who have been waiting almost a decade for this thing will be incredibly disappointed if they have to drop 10 bills to see an 100 minute Halo movie. I mean Id be pissed
atticusboy writes:

so if this sucks then all that for nothin wow some people want to see it but some its just part of the game that they play every day

As long as they don't follow the game "story" it will be longer then 5 minutes. I am sick of hearing about this movie. Xbox/MS's only new ideas are how to milk Halo more.
