Neil Gaiman's "The Sandman" to Become a TV Series

Neil Gaiman's "The Sandman" comic book series is now in the early stages of being developed into a TV Series by Warner Bros, which is in the midst of acquiring rights from sister company DC Entertainment.

"Sandman" tells the tale of Morpheus, the Lord of the Dreaming, a deity who personifies dreams. The book began in the horror realm but quickly made its mark in fantasy and mythology as Gaiman introduced the Endless, a group of powerful brothers and sisters named Destiny, Death, Destruction, Despair, Desire and Delirium (as well as Dream).

WB is currently in talks with several writer/producers to adapt the 1990s comic. At the top of the list is Eric Kripke, creator of the CW's "Supernatural."

By making it a TV series, it can actually work and have heaps of f*cking room to complete the story!

never heard of it before, but it does sound interesting, better than most tv shows on now

Hopefully it'll last more than a season or two

I began reading this comic a month ago (I finished volume 5 of the series last night), and I was wondering how could it be translated to the screen. A movie would be impossible, but a TV series could work. Now I read this great news and it really sounds it could work.

If this winds up on CW (or WB or whatever the f*ck they call it now), I'm gonna be pissed.

ok Its been a while since I read them but this could work if they take there time the show could run for 10 years or longer if done right

Well they have to replace Smallville with something. And Supernatural is a pretty decent show for fook sake.

Best news I've heard... maybe ever.

Smallville is being replaced by a Blue Beetle/Booster Gold series from what I understand. It's going to spinoff from the Smallville show during the Apokolips storyline.

Put some money into it and this can be very very good. Now can we get a preacher comics movie or tv show, puuuuhleeeeezz!
Aaron writes:

eh. I want HBO miniseries.. with big name directors doing different episodes/story lines. So and so doing the corinthian stuff, Del Toro doing the fairie stuff, so and so doing the hell stuff.. Spielberg doing the wake..

a WB series using the talent of supernatural doesn't sound particularly exciting..

I second the Preacher series - only I could see that being a couple of movies.
Bob82 writes:

@Aaron: I second that!

So many directors could do justice to many different episodes. I'm beginning to get very excited in this project.
