WB Working on $200 Million 3D "The Battle of Midway" WWII EpicSubmit Comment
Deadline is reporting that Warner Bros has picked up Bruce McKenna's pitch for a $200 million 3D film called "The Battle of Midway," about the turning point in WWII. McKenna, who is the co-executive producer and the writer for the HBO mini-series "The Pacific," will turn on his script in eight weeks.

The Battle of Midway took place sixth months after the surprise attack on Pearl Harbor. When it was over, the supremacy of the Imperial Japanese Navy was lost along with four of its aircraft carriers and one heavy cruiser. The Japanese never recovered.

The Battle Of Midway has been captured before on film: in 1942, John Ford directed Oscar-winning "The Battle of Midway" using actual battle footage shot by the Navy. There was also the 1976 film Midway starring Charlton Heston, Henry Fonda, James Coburn and Hal Holbrook.

I liked the Midway...

Used to love those war movies from the 60's 70's

Great Escape
Longest Day
Bridge to Far
Battle of Britian
Guns Of Navarone and Force 10
Tora Tora Tora
Ice Cold in Alex
Where Eagles Dare
Battle of the Bulge
Dirty Dozen
Kelly Heroes
Sand Pebbles

Perfect Saturday afternoon viewing :)

How about a 3d film showing the 2 atom bombs dropped on japan and see all the explosions in 3d and what not. That'd be great

I think The Great Escape and Where Eagles Dare are my Favorites off of that list , But they are all great films. Ranger still think i'm missing a couple though..

Escape to Victory dave, your right should be on there even though it was 1981, It Has that feel of a movie from the late 60's and it has Stallone , Caine and Bobby Moore in it as well ...

Bridge to far , My god How many stars did Richard Attenborough get for that movie. '

Its like the whos' who of Hollywood actors from the 70's .....

Rambo- That is a great movie , not sure on all the others that came out after though 1 even had Erik Estrada in it lol
