"Half-Life" Movie Being Considered Posted: August 28th, 2010 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
PC Gamer caught up with Gabe Newell, the CEO and co-founder of Valve, the company behind "Half-Life" and "Team Fortress," to find out if there have been any talks of a "Half-Life" movie. " Where we got into this direction was after 'Half-Life 1' had shipped. There was a whole bunch of meetings with people from Hollywood," Newell explained. " Directors down there wanted to make a 'Half-Life' movie and stuff, so they'd bring in a writer or some talent agency would bring in writers, and they would pitch us on their story. And their stories were just so bad. I mean, brutally, the worst. Not understanding what made the game a good game, or what made the property an interesting thing for people to be a fan of." He continued: " That's when we started saying 'Wow, the best thing we could ever do is to just not do this as a movie, or we'd have to make it ourselves.' And I was like, 'Make it ourselves? Well that's impossible.' But the 'Team Fortress 2' thing, the 'Meet The Team' shorts, is us trying to explore that."

I think team fortress is more humor based though. Halflife is more of a serious film. There's a fan based one made awhile back that was pretty cool.

love the games, but a movie is a no go. what if they have Gordon actually TALK? the fans wouldn't have it.

If they get The Purchase Brothers to make the film, it could be great. Their "Escape From City 17" HL2 short was great.
They had a good grasp of the atmosphere from the game, so they could probably get the atmosphere from the 1st right too!
Here's the short:

NO. Don't f*ck me with this. Half life is beyond sacred to be convetred into a sh*tty hollywood project. Gabe, you're supposed to have way more brains than those faggot movie execs. What's up with you?
I'll blow Hollywood with a nucler blast (or the Independence Day space ships) if a Half life movie is ever produced.
