Robert Rodriguez on Directing "Deadpool"Submit Comment
Robert Rodriguez is currently promoting "Machete" and is answering questions about his upcoming projects. One movie that keeps coming up is "Deadpool," an "X-Men: Wolverine" spin-off which the director is rumored to take on.

"It's a great script and a great property," Rodriguez told LA Times, adding that he's been meeting with 20th Century Fox about directing the film, but is still not sure when that will happen.

"I'm just working everything out," he said, noting that his is choosing between three projects for his next directing job. Two of them are "Deadpool" and "Sin City 2." While he didn't reveal the third one, it is assumed that it may be "Nerveracker," which is a futuristic thriller.

I agree do it now. If Reynolds is gonna star, you gotta strike right now while the irons hot

f*ck a deadpool. Give us Sin City 2. We have been waiting long enough.

At this point I have serious doubts that either movie will ever get made. Like BDeck was saying yesterday on the "Machete" thread, I think too much time has passed since the first "Sin City" and the style has already been poorly copied in "The Spirit." I've been a hardcore fan since years before the movie came out, which I love, but I don't think we're ever going to get another installment. Regarding "Deadpool" - does anybody really think that Warner Brothers will allow their new A-List mega star Ryan Reynolds to be a part of any other competing comic book movie roles? No chance. That would be like if Christian Bale was cast as Captain America. I'd still love to see both movies get made, but "SC2" will never live up to the first one and whoever they replace Ryan Reynolds with (if it ever goes beyond being "In Development") will not be as good as he could have been.

Reynolds was a good choice, but he's far from irreplaceable. I've been saying Seann William Scott for months now. Make it so, RR.

Michael Dudikoff is back, he can be Deadpool.

Does American ninja ring a bell?

@Inception- You may be on to something my dark skinned friend. Someone get a hold of Dudikof's agent, this could bring back his career.

Sin city 2 please.

How about Emmanuele Lewis as Deadpool?
Inception writes:

@ VDODSON

If only Steve James was alive he could have return to Dudikoff's side one more time.

^ That's a memorable duo right there.

If you want to see what he actually is doing, then why not see IMDB ? It tells you the process stage of all these movies he has attached his name to (or is rumored to be hired to) ... In actuality, you're more likely to see Predators II (based on the results of the opening weekend and overall worldwide money brought in) or Spy Kids 4 : Armagheddon (Yep, that's the name of it.), which was Robert's own property-owned project or Machete Kills, blah, blah, blah, then you will see Sin City II or Deadpool for a simple reason ... the film corporations (Warner Bros., Universal, Columbia) own the rights for these properties and the odds of a sequel coming out these days is ALWAYS based on what they greenlight, the money it makes on the opening weekend and the commitment of the director ... case in point : Batman Begins and The Dark Knight (which was an amazing turn of a sequel outdoing the first movie) or Iron Man and Iron Man 2 (the exact reverse) ... Hate to say it, but ... he wanted to do Red Sonja with Rose McGowan and that fell through, so how much can I trust rumors and talk by Robert that he's going to do Deadpool or Sin City 2 anytime soon ? No likely.
rabid writes:

Wasn't that Rose McGowan's fault? I think I read she was injured a car accident and now her mobility is too limited to do the Red Sonja action scenes.
He wants to make a Deadpool film, but there's no reason to rush it. There's already a glut of big budget superhero films coming, and all those other films sound more exciting than a DP movie at present.
Sin City 2? i am still unsure of that. Frank Miller hasn't written anything good in 15 years.
jigsaw23 writes:

well he should do sin city 2 first then deadpool 2 then predators 2, but we all know they will never happen. and by the time it does reynolds will be busy and i wont have any interest if he is not deadpool.
yatedogg writes:
on August 19th, 2010 at 7:31:42 PM

This is getting ridiculous....i doubt itll even get made now and if it does it probably wont be with reynolds due to all this cluster-f*cking

Knowing that Reynolds is a hardcore 'Pool fan the smart thing to do if he wants to not be a complete sell-out is do what he wants to do, and if it's Deadpool over Green Lantern sequels then by god give Warner the finger and go become the crimson comedian you were meant to play!
