Daniel Craig (Casino Royale) has already been confirmed to star in the three-picture adaptation of Stieg Larsson's "The Millennium Trilogy," to be directed by David Fincher (Fight Club, Curious Case of Benjamin Button).
Now comes word that Rooney Mara (The Social Network, A Nightmare on Elm Street) has been signed in the lead role of the trilogy, which includes "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo," "The Girl Who Played with Fire," and "The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet's Nest."
In "Dragon Tattoo," Craig will play Blomkvist, a disgraced journalist hired by an aging and wealthy businessman, Henrik Vanger, to solve a decade's old murder. Blomkvist sets about researching the Vanger family with the help of computer hacker, and dragon tattoo-wearing, Lisbeth Salander (Mara).
The new movie is scheduled to begin shooting next month in Sweden and is set to hit theaters on December 21st, 2011.

My first impression is a 'Hell No'.
Noomi Rapace did a ridiculously good job in the Swedish films, so Ms. Mara has her work cut out for her.
Besides, Rapace has a 'damaged goods' / strong woman look to her. Whereas Mara is pretty rich girl / 'I would die if I broke a nail' look.
