Jason Flemyng is Azazel in "X-Men: First Class"

Jason Flemyng is Azazel in "X-Men: First Class"Submit Comment
During "Ironclad" presentation at BFI's Movie-Con III in London, actor Jason Flemyng (Kick-Ass, Clash of the Titans) said that he will be re-teaming with director Matthew Vaughn in "X-Men: First Class."

He will be playing the role of Azazel, who has been described as a "teleporter," with Flemyng stating that his character will have a tail that will be added in post-production. Azazel is the father of Nightcrawler.

The character first appeared in "Uncanny X-Men" #428 in a storyline called "The Draco" where we finally learned that Kurt Wagner (Nightcrawler) was the son of the lead of an ancient race of mutants, from biblical times, who looked like demons and who could teleport by opening portals into other dimensions.

In the comics, Azazel had been banished to the "Brimstone dimension" by angels, but left that dimension to father children, one of them being Nightcrawler. So, will Nightcrawler be in the movie as well?

Here is a list of movies Matthew Vaughn has either produced or directed.

Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Snatch, Mean Machine, Swept Away, Layer Cake, Stardust, Harry Brown, Kick-Ass & The Debt.

So can we expect all of the actors in these movies to sporadicly get a part on "X-Men: First Class"?

I've enjoyed Jason in the movies I've seen him in. I guess this means Mystic will be in the movie as well?

who did he play in kick-ass?
JohnZee writes:

He played the Doorman in Kick Ass.

Vaughn is also going to give a role to the chick that brought him his coffee every day on the set of Kick Ass. She's going to be Makes-Great- Coffee-Lass...

Nightcrawler was the coolest character in the movies for three reasons: How Singer crafted him with the special effects, c*mming's performance, and the opening scene of X2. If Nightcrawler shows up in this movie at all, at any age, that would absolutely awesome. I have a good feeling about this one, I wasn't crazy about Layer Cake or Stardust but Kick-Ass was so damn good I think he is beginning his streak of excellent flicks

This character and origin story were so bad that Marvel fired the guy who wrote it, blacklisted him from comics and pretended it never happened. I'm very surprised they'd actually use Azazel in the film.

Seriously Rabid? That actually happened to the guy who created this Xmen story line?

@davethephotoguy

Uhh oh. Does this mean that Jason Stathom will play Apocolypse?

Shall we expect Bullet-Tooth Tony to return as the Juggernaut?

Yeah, HorrorJunky. His name was Chuck Austen. Fans complained until Marvel canned him. DC made a bid to scoop him up by giving him a Superman run... where he promptly wrote a terrible story involving superrape that got him booted off that title.
That was pretty much the end. Nobody wanted him after that. Marvel's done all they could to retcon his X-Men stories and pretend they didn't happen.
