"The Hangover" Director Working on John Belushi Biopic

"The Hangover" Director Working on John Belushi BiopicSubmit Comment
"The Hangover" director Todd Phillips is developing a biographical film about the life of the late comedian John Belushi. Phillips is teaming with writer Steven Conrad (The Pursuit of Happyness), who will pen the script.

The Chicago-born Belushi was a member of the Second City comedy troupe before becoming one of the original performers on "SNL" from 1975 until 1979, when he left to pursue a film career full-time. His feature resume includes "National Lampoon's Animal House" and "The Blues Brothers." He was also set to star opposite Dan Aykroyd in "Ghostbusters" and "Spies Like Us."

Belushi couldn't take part in the two movies, because he died of a drug overdose in 1982 at age 33.

god i hope not, But pretty much any teen comedy (like American Pie) made since has been inspired in some way a little bit by Animal House.

It took over $120mil back in 1978 it was a massive hit....

had a roommate in college who said he didn't like animal house because it was too much like old school.

Trailer I seen an adjusted inflation list for the highest grossing comedies one time and I think if it came out today Animal House would done near 400 million. That woulda been the biggest hit of this year.

this should be sweet tits if its done right.Jim belushi should get the lead if not he needs to at least have a major role in it.

...I really hope imdb pro isn't a scam, I would die to play Belushi on screen... literally

Bit o' Trivia (but not a huge secret):

Belushi was filming (I think it was Animal House... but can't remember). He walked off set... walked down the street. Knocked on the door of a family and asked if he could crash on their sofa for a bit. So there they had John Belushi out of their couch for a spell.
Ranger writes:

That's legendary stuff, and classic Belushi.

@ranger- I think it was Animal House, in the doc*mentry on The Blues Brothers dvd they mention it on there.

Also do you get my message?
Ranger writes:

Kewl.

checking now...
Ranger writes:

@Dave - got it. lol.

TO: WP - any chance of coding a feature that if we have mail awaiting... we can have something blinking somewhere on the screen? If such a feature already exists (and that's possible), please point it out. But I think it would be appreciated and handy. Blinking by our avatar would be annoying... so elsewhere.

Just saying.

Please and thank you.

CC-
I know , can you imagine a comedy taking that type of money today , i doubt it could happen.

Ranger-

Thats a pretty sweet story about John, You would have thought he may of drank all your booze and smashed your house up, not have a sleep on your sofa.

I was reading the other day he had signed on to play Max (james woods character) in Once upon a time in America before he died.

That would have been interesting to see him take a role on like that.
Ranger writes:
on August 13th, 2010 at 3:45:59 AM

And he certainly would have improved 'Spies like us'

Ranger writes:

Ferrel showed us he's much better as a supporting actor than he is in a lead in Old School.

Same as in The Wedding Crashers, Winter's Passing, etc.

His box office take when he's lead sucks farts out of dead cows. He's done like a 5 minute steak.
Slyer writes:

dont worry guys this will be on the re-make block soon enough. once someone figures out that national lampoon movies suck f*cking ass. for example, all the american pie straight to dvd spin offs and that sh*tty van wilder 2 spin off without ryan reynolds. its all goin down man
