Superman Saves Family's House from Foreclosure

Posted: August 4th, 2010 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
Superman Saves FamilySubmit Comment
A struggling family, which has chosen to remain anonymous, took a second mortgage on a house they inherited from the wife's husband in order to start a business. Unfortunately the business fell apart and the family wasn't able to make monthly payments.

As a result, the bank started foreclosure proceedings, forcing the family to gather their things and to prepare to evacuate the house that the family has owned for more than sixty years. While packing, they came across a box full of comic books, most of which were worth between $10 and $30. But one of them was the 1938 comic which was the first to feature Superman.

"There are about 100 copies of Action Comics No. 1 believed to be in existence, with only a handful in good condition," said Vincent Zurzolo, co-owner of Metropolis Comics and Collectibles. This particular copy was graded a 5.0 Very Good/Fine rating on a scale of 1 to 10. It will likely fetch over $250,000. In better condition, it would have been priced at over $1 million.

Pretty lucky.. I don't understand how you move into a house without checking the whole place out as soon as you buy it.

Ranger writes:

Really?

You don't like the clever use of the double-entendre?

Supes 'saves' a house both physically (as he would) because... well, he's Superman, and financially, which is the case here.

You really think this headline is misleading... or are you just not gettin' it?
trailertrash writes:

Maybe nicholas56 just thought Superman was going to loan the family the cash himself and then they would pay him back on the lay away scheme .....

If Superman was real that is ...

You know this sort of stuff does happen. My ex-wife was at a yard sale a few years back, and they had a bunch of old pictures and paintings.

And while going through them she found one that looked familiar, and looked like it didn't belong with the others. Turns out the painting was done by some famous (or at least semi-famous) painter back in the 1920's. And since then she's had a string of offers from various private and public interests, the biggest offer being about $32,000 from a art collector in Knoxville.

I wish I could remember the painter's name, but then again from what she said he was more semi-famous, and not someone the average person would instantly recognize.

Some people wear Superman pajamas. Superman wears Chuck Norris pajamas.

I call a bullsh*t story. Probably more marketing or make-up news from WP more than anything to draw attention to Superman. Like someone else said here-you live in the damn house for 60 years and don't frigging find these comic books. Come on!
