"Superbad 2" is Dead, "Pineapple Express 2" is Unlikely

"Superbad 2" is Dead, "Pineapple Express 2" is UnlikelySubmit Comment
MTV News caught up with writer Evan Goldberg to talk about sequels to "Superbad" and "Pineapple Express." Fans have been clamoring for follow-ups to both comedies, and at one point, there were talks of a movie that would combine the characters from the two films.

"Never, at any juncture in the history of life, have we considered 'Superbad 2'," he said, adding that "Pineapple Express 2" has a better chance of getting made. As much as the studio wants to make the sequel, it has been having trouble finding room in everyone's schedules.

"We kind of made the classic mistake of people who had a successful film: we then booked everything we could because we thought it'd be our only chance," Goldberg explained. "It still could be our only chance, but man are we booked."

The writer added that the story for "Pineapple Express 2" has already been planned out, but it may be a while before everyone becomes serious about the movie.

I'm glad that Superbad doesn't have a sequel. McLovin just plays versions of himself and Cera ? If Scott Pilgrim fails, he needs to be bitch-raped by the crew of Worst Previews.

Great news for both.

So this is proof that Hollywood doesn't give a sequel to EVERY movie that gets made. Good.

So Pineapple Express 2 IS likely. The title is wrong. Id rather see a sequel to that film, I feel like the story of Superbad is over, the kids are going off to college and theyve accomplished what they needed to do. I also preferred Pineapple Express to Superbad (I find Superbad highly overrated, not bad, just overrated)

But still, lets be honest, sequels to these films are unneccessary overall. Just move on to new projects and be glad both of them were successes and helped jumpstart everyones blossoming career

So let's see...

1- No Robocop
2- No Sex and the City 3
3- No Superbad 2
4- No Pineapple Express 2
5- No Anchorman 2

WOW! looks like Hollywood might be listening after all....but of course I won't hold my breath on that.

No sh*t there isn't going to be a Superbad 2. Jonah has gotten so fat he can't even leave his apartment.

Jonah hill? more like Jonah Mountain!

Nice move Goldberg, a sequel is the second last thing I want to see (first is a sequwl to 'Inception') and a 'Pineapple Express' 2 wouldn't be as funny as the first one (it was kind of rare to find a big laugh in the first one).

These are the kind of movies you really can't sequels for. If they did, they would for the most part suck
