"Twilight" Actor is Cast in "X-Men: First Class"Submit Comment
Edi Gathegi, who played an evil vampire in "Twilight," has been cast in "X-Men: First Class" in the role of Darwin, a mutant with the power of "reactive evolution" which allows him to adapt to any situation or environment. Plunged underwater, he'll grow gills, he'll gain night vision in pitch black and his skin grows fire retardant when burned.

Gathegi is joining a cast comprised of James McAvoy as Professor X, Michael Fassbender as Magneto, Alice Eve as Emma Frost, Nicholas Hoult as Beast, Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, Caleb Landry Jones as Banshee and Lucas Till as Havoc. Kevin Bacon is playing the villain.

"X-Men: First Class" is directed by Matthew Vaughn (Kick-Ass) and is scheduled to hit theaters on June 3rd, 2011.

Haha, you said retard...

Does his powers also mean that if he's lonely he will be able to give birth?

So, if he gets thirsty, can he pee Gatorade into his mouth? If he's hungry, do his hands turn into tacos?

Not sure if and when this character ever appeared in the books, but it sounds like a terrible idea. If he can adapt to any situation, then he shouldn't have any weaknesses. Doesn't sound very interesting. How about investing screen time in characters the fans actually care about? (And not casting silly vampires from Twilight in their roles?)

I quite like that power, but seeing as this is an ensemble piece its more than likely not going to be used to it's full potential, as are most x-men movie powers, and it's going to take a back seat to the bigger names

At least it's not that shirtless Mexican kid cast as Wolverine.

this guys mutant powers remind me of an awesome Outer Limits episode. damn. now i wanna watch that more than i do this movie.

So if hes gay can he summon up a line of leather clad dudes?? Doc...front of the que!

@Freudian: Wouldn't that mean that if he is lonely he could just smile and blow himself?

What a way to get the Twilight crowd to go see this movie. Now that is pure marketing genius.
Freudian_Nightmare writes:

@HorrorJunkie: Very possible. But I don't think he's lonely very often, he probably travels with a pack of n*ggers and rape women who deserves it.

They're hiring Shaka Zulu ? What the f*ck ?

Don't forget to stick a bone in his nose, get him a spear and have him jumping up and down in the Danger Room going, " We gots spooks, Professor X! We gots spooks! "

Jesus are those dreadlocks his special mutant power and can he f*ck things like they do in Avatar with it?

"Darwin, a mutant with the power of "reactive evolution" which allows him to adapt to any situation or environment."

So if he would go to a NASCAR event, he'd pretty much turn into a white redneck then?

@Johnnyboy- LMAO.

awesome Darwin is a pretty cool character, maybe the coolest mutant they've come up with in recent years.
if you don't recognize him with the Dreadlocks, he also played the Mormon doctor who House MD ran through the ringer 2 seasons back.

Holy sh*t. What a scary headline...with probably the least scary result. Could have been so much worse.

I think this is kinda stupid. Not the powers, nice idea. But why bring in random characters for the sake of it? It's f*cking stupid.

So if he walk a gay bar would he into 1 of the village people
rabid writes:

Darwin was one of the early X-Men recruits, but no one can remember him because Xavier wiped everyone's minds.
god, I hope this doesn't mean they'll be using the third Summers brother, Vulcan. I tried hard to forget I ever read that series.
