Brad Pitt to Star in "World War Z" Zombie Movie

Brad Pitt to Star in "World War Z" Zombie MovieSubmit Comment
MTV News caught up with "World War Z" author Max Brooks at Comic-Con to talk about the big screen adaptation of his novel about the zombie apocalypse, which Marc Forster (Quantum of Solace) has been attached to direct.

Brooks revealed that Brad Pitt is now officially attached to star in the film and that Paramount has optioned the movie rights to two more of his projects, including "The Zombie Survival Guide" and "The zombie Survival Guide: Recorded Attacks."

Pitt's production company acquired the rights to "World War Z" back in 2007 after a bidding war with Leonardo DiCaprio's company. Now, Paramount is targeting a Summer 2012 release for the film, which chronicles a worldwide zombie outbreak through the first-hand accounts of survivors.

Zombie Pitt. Lol.

I doubt it CCBlev, since Pitt's Production company Plan B has the rights to it, not some major studio. Plus Max Brooks, the author, says he's read the script and loves it. Oh, and he said he spoke with Marc Forster who's going to direct and said "he gets it".

haven't read the book (yet), but it sounds good, and Pitt isn't a bad choice.

CC

Sorry but this will suck, and you can take that to the bank. Why?

Brad ArmPitt

Anything with Brad ArmPitt, George Coneydog Clooney, Woody voted best Actor and director Allen, you can count on it to suck.

Reading about Lohan on this site is more exciting than watching those 3 in a movie.

GTFO Crazyhorse.

Brad Pitt - Fight Club, Seven, True Romance (was in it for like 3mins and stole the show) Oceans 11, Troy, Burn After Reading, Twelve Monkeys, Snatch etc

we gotta wait and see guys.

Anyways I think it would have to be an ensemble cast 'cause the book takes place around several character's experiences unless Pitt plays the journalist

whats the name of the novel?? if its a series whats the first in it?
TheCount writes:

WonkaMan- Its a stand alone book, and its called World War Z

I would have been happier if dicaprio's studio would have aquired it

Ranger writes:

Shannon Price.

No make-up required.

sad thing is i remember hearing about this back in 07...the bidding war was over then.

at least that means it's been in the works for a while.

may turn out okay.

@holtlt

for them to say that he is starring, i would have to imagine that he is playing the journalist...the only MAIN character lol.

I enjoyed the book but one of the interviews that stood out to me was the astronaut (who was basically on his deathbed) who watched the sh*t from space.

sounds good even with brad

Sounds good.

CC- Let's hope they dont my friend, Pitt and foster on board is a good start.

Crazy- Got to agree with ARI on this one, Pitt has made and been good quite a few movies now.
AYT BALL writes:

@ Crazyhorse - Like Ari said your overlooking some great stuff Pitts been in, this is in good hands! the fact that he was in a bidding war to aquire it says alot too.

I haven't read the book yet, but I have only heard positive things about it, so I'm psyched. It's also interesting seeing such a high-profile actor go down the zombie route.

You gotta love Crazyhorse's reason why this movie is guaranteed to suck. I'm just having a hard time understanding, how exactly do George Clooney and Woody Allen fit in to this? Brad Pitt, while not the greatest actor ever, has been a major part of some of my favorite movies of all time. This is an adaptation of one of the best zombie books ever written. It's got a respectable budget. So far, everything is looking good. Hopefully "The Walking Dead" on AMC will get good ratings and maybe the studio will throw a little more money at WWZ.

@Crazyhorse - if they ever start printing books in whatever language it is that you speak, you should keep an eye out for this one. "Coneydog"? What the hell are you even talking about?
autiger10 writes:

the concept art is sick for this movie.
let's just hope that marc forster doesnt f*ck it up (his 007 was like "simple jack")
sc_kg writes:

I loved "The Zombie Survival Guide". Can't seem how can this be turned into a movie, but I think it was already an inspiration to "Zombieland"
billofill writes:

SC think Citizen Kane but with Zombie Stories instead of a Media Mogul.
