USA Today has unveiled a new photo from the upcoming "Thor" movie, showing the title character (Chris Hemsworth) and his might hammer. Check out the photo below.

Plot: "Thor" spans the Marvel Universe from present day Earth to the realm of Asgard. At the center of the story is The Mighty Thor, a powerful but arrogant warrior whose reckless actions reignite an ancient war. Thor is cast down to Earth and forced to live among humans as punishment. Once here, Thor learns what it takes to be a true hero when the most dangerous villain of his world sends the darkest forces of Asgard to invade Earth.

The new film is directed by Keneth Branagh (Frankenstein) and is scheduled to hit 2D and 3D theaters on May 6th, 2011.

Am I the only one who thought rude thoughts after reading that?

Then of course was disapointed.... :(

It looks like Marvel is using the Thor comic from 2007 as the basis for the Thor movie. Looks good. Can't wait!!!

Looks like he is getting his hands on Miljnor from the end of Iron Man 2.

@stranger- guess so mate..but could be worse...this mught be video footage of Lohans Prison Cavity Search...the only thing that could probably destroy Thor's Hammer (and I do mean that one as well).
StrangerDanger writes:

@Dave -shudders- Man i don't need that mental image though i think the smell from Lohan's std demon infested hell cave she calls a snatch could f*cking repel Galactus for gods sake and not the sh*tty cloud one either.

MARVEL is VEY predictable though, in their marketing campaign, early on the EXACT same tactics were used for INRON MAN, where same tone, same gritty feeling to it,covered in soem dirt Robert Downey Jr was pouding metal in the cave he was trapped in,building that prototype suit of his. EXACTLY same- it screams Iron man in that sense, same vibe to it exactly, all of it.

Great shot!

HUGE Thor fan here... this picture has just boosted my hopes even higher for it's success (ie: that is doesn't suck... therefore it 'should just smile... AND BLOW ME!!!!!) - Mel Gibson 2010.

I hope the Thor movies are successful, cause I've always wanted to see a live action Beta Ray Bill.

Also the "Mutant Massacre" would be a sick tie-in to the X-franchise.

Glad they did away with the wings. I have all the faith in the world in Branagh.
Ranger writes:

Beta Ray Bill - thank God for Walt Simonson for picking up a tired Thor comic with issue #337 and TURN IT ALL AROUND!

Thor getting his ass kicked (badly!).
Depressed... laying in bed.
Odin comes in to cheer him up (bit 'o tough love).

Walt Simonson... THANK YOU! You're the BEST!

These articles are very short; is it too much to ask that somebody proofs them? It's Kenneth Branagh, not Keneth (and he's known for much better things than his ill-made Frankenstein movie).

To be fair, given the near-illiteracy of many of the posters here, it's probably unfair to criticize the staff.
