Trailer: Jackie Earle HaleySubmit Comment
Today we have the trailer for "Louis," a modern re-imagining of early silent films and an homage to Louis Armstrong, Charlie Chaplin and the birth of American music. Check out the trailer below.

The new movie stars co-stars Jackie Earle Haley (Watchmen, Nightmare on Elm Street) and Anthony Mackie (The Hurt Locker) and is set to get a limited theatrical release on August 25th.

Plot: The grand Storyville bordellos, alleys and cemeteries of 1907 New Orleans provide a backdrop of lust, blood and magic for 6 year old Louis (Anthony Coleman) as he navigates the colorful intricacies of life in the city. Young Louis's dreams of playing the trumpet are interrupted by a chance meeting with a beautiful and vulnerable girl named Grace (Shanti Lowry) and her baby, Jasmine. Haley plays the evil Judge Perry who is determined not to let Jasmine's true heritage derail his candidacy for governor.

That was just plain weird. Not in a good sentence, nor in a bad, just weird.

Expect this to run in the artsy-type of theaters, like the Magnolia or Angelika.

I wondered where the f*ck Michael Rooker had been hiding.

There hasn't been a silent movie since 'The Producers' (orig. version by M. Brooks, not the remake), so I'm willing to give it a shot.

It's pretty f*cking uncanny how Jackie looks like a certain former German despot with that 'stache.

I'm just sayin' ....

@Freudian Nightmare

But I'd rather watch it than both Knight and Day AND Karate Kid.

You know... After the "A Nightmare On Elm Street" reboot, I thought cinema was dead. But now this movie (also coincidentally starring JEH) has given me hope once more!

For a 6 year old, he hasn't aged very well.

Oop, I'm sorry. Thought that was Gary Coleman. My bad. Forgot he's no longer with us.
