"Mission: Impossible 4" Making Changes After "Knight and Day" Bombed

"Mission: Impossible 4" Making Changes After "Knight and Day" BombedSubmit Comment
Deadline previously learned that Paramount Pictures might rethink "Mission: Impossible 4" if Tom Cruise's "Knight and Day" underperforms in theaters. At this point, "Knight" has only grossed $62 million domestically on a $117 million budget.

The site is now reporting that the studio is planning to rewrite the script for "M:I4," which was recently turned in and is said to be very good. The goal is to make Ethan Hunt (Cruise) a mentor to a young operative in order to have the weight of the film be carried by two major stars, rather than just Cruise.

In addition, Paramount will also likely lower the budget in order to increase its chances of making a profit. Oscar-winner Brad Bird (The Incredibles, Ratatouille) is still signed on to direct.

See, Tom? All that psycho Scientology sh*t DID get you in trouble.

Side note: it's strange to think that all the older movie stars are getting into trouble recently more due to personal troubles than career wise. Makes you wish it was more like in the past, where we didn't know about the crazy sh*t they did or the f*cked up opinions they had.

Tom... you're done.

Thx. for all the great movies though (seriously).

Now who will the young upstart be!? Shia Lebeouf? Zach Effron? Taylor Lautner? I can almost guarantee they are going to try and cash in some tween heart throb... hehe I said throb.

I thought MI:3 was pretty good and with that said, this one will probably be good too. So if they had a good script already made they shouldn't have f*cked with it. Knight and Day didn't bomb because of his performence it bombed because of it's sh*tty advertising.

I don't see that idea heading in a very good direction.

This further how these Hollywood bigshots are morons. People don't care about the stars to the same degree we used to. Now, we just want good stories. And besides, is there any young actor with real pulling force outside the Twilight-franchise?
Ranger writes:

The only pulling in the Twilight franchise by those actors is in their crotch regions.

The new MI will be run by Les Grossman. That's his next over-played franchise he has up his seleve. Bet he wish he did "Salt" instead.

Ive said it before, but after watching From Paris With Love, I would love to see Johnathan Rhys Meyers take over this franchise. It's just that FPWL was already a covert operative / mentor premise so it's a rehash.

I dont think it was tom cruise that tanked that movie it was a. CAMERON DIAZ b. havent seen that movie plot like 20 times in the last few years its been a while since the couch incident hes made several hit movies since then Cruise just needs to pick movies people give a sh*t about seeing that goes for all actors frankly i could give 2 sh*ts for his religion as long as he isnt threatening to beat up his girlfriend or killing folks ...that goes to you OJ and Mel Gibson...
Johnny Neat writes:

Hey they have Brad f*ckING Bird they don't need any cuts. Just give him what he needs. Personally I think it was Diaz that brought the boat down nut crazy Cruise.

You people don't realzie that him supporting and funding a criminal organization-scientology,which has been convicted cirminally nad banned in several countries.Scientology has by means of torture killed hundreds of it's memebrs who were trying to tell the world or escape. They abuse all their memebers, not allowing contact with family memebrs who ain't scientologists, also scamming and brainwashing all the money out of people. They actually kill by torture yes, gruesome stuff.Thousands of ex-memebrs have come out and tesitifed,as well as several other proof material and facts. Tom supports all of this furiously, and funds scinetology as well with his money.he KNOWS this stuff very well, hes a high-ranking scientologist.THIS is why people don't liek hi manymore.Hes a killer, supporting it is same as killing yourself.he shoudl go to jail.
