Roman Polanski is a Free Man

Posted: July 12th, 2010 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
Roman Polanski is a Free ManSubmit Comment
Back in 1977, director Roman Polanski (Rosemary's Baby, Chinatown, The Pianist) was arrested for unlawful sex with a 13-year-old girl. But before he could receive his sentencing, he fled to France, a country that does not extradite its citizens.

After over thirty years, Polanski was finally captured last year by Swiss authorities for extradition to the US to face a trial and sentencing. After many months of fighting extradition and eventual prison time, the director is now a free man.

NY Times is reporting that the Swiss government had rejected the extradition request because American authorities declined to provide confidential testimony from a January 2010 hearing on Polanski's original sentencing agreement.

Swiss officials said records from that hearing would have established whether the judge who tried the case in 1977 had assured Polanski that time he spent in a psychiatric unit would constitute the whole of the period of imprisonment he would serve.

"If this were the case, Roman Polanski would actually have already served his sentence and therefore both the proceedings on which the US extradition request is founded and the request itself would have no foundation," the Swiss Justice Ministry said in a statement.

Glad this is over. It was only a misunderstanding all along. He thought she was 14 and a dude.

Well, we know the next catholic school with a scandal will be linked to ROMAN POLANSKI ...

Maybe he'll become a priest and try for the 'other white meat', while the Vatican is still trying to bury the issue ...

@Freudian_Nightmare

So he thought the girl was a hermaphrodite ?

Perhaps he didn't see the tuft of hair and thought she had shaved below. But since it wasn't a porno and post 1990, ya gotta be a LITTLE suspicious.

@P_Dangerous

Or you hope they are a dumb (deaf and mute) orphan that dies the next day and is never looked for.

But Roman wasn't that lucky.

Ranger- I found out the hard way when I went to ChuckE Cheeze. 3,7 yr olds do not make 21, and just b/c that equals 21 doesn't give them the right to get drunk. Boy was that judge mad at me.

Ranger-lol
Thats why I like to go to the local "Special school" all the lil boys, I mean girls are kinda crazy and retarded. So that way when they talk about a stranger molesting them, their teachers think its their imaginary friend doing it to em and not someone real.

I don't see this going down well, Polanski on the loose.

However, the second I spotted this headline, I knew I could count on some fun comments from Ranger :)

Isn't it obvious. Roman Polanski bribed the Swiss Official with blow jobs. Why else would they let him go?

trailertrash writes:

Roman celebrated this good news , with a double order of his favorite sex lube and a trip to the local youth club , the sly old dog...
Ranger writes:
on July 13th, 2010 at 12:31:11 PM

So I guess the moral of this story is... it's wrong to have sex with 13 year olds?

What's the ruling on 12 or 14 year olds then?
rabid writes:
on July 13th, 2010 at 12:45:39 PM

nah, they weren't charging him with molestation. They were charging him with evading prosecution. The clock ran out on the rape charges decades ago.

vaodsi writes:

Polanski is a genius that has made some of the greatest films in history.
He also raped a thirteen year old girl then ran away to avoid prison time that he deserved.
What a sleezeball!
And now he gets off (pun intended)
damn.
encoreyourface writes:
on July 13th, 2010 at 4:56:56 PM

rabid is right it would have been to late to charge him after such a long time ...

"nah, they weren't charging him with molestation. They were charging him with evading prosecution. The clock ran out on the rape charges decades ago."

The Clock didn't run out on God's Judgment though. Look, I love many of his movies, the 9th Gate especially...But he needs to face up to what he did. If it were your daughter he raped would you be satisfied with some lame, artificial clock time to prosecute running out because he turned table and ran to Europe like a coward? Where is Rorschach when you need him?
rabid writes:
on July 13th, 2010 at 9:21:50 PM

He was willing to face up to it from the start, but the prosecutors pulled some serious d*ck (and maybe illegal) moves to try and put him away for eternity. He didn't flee until they reneged on a legal deal. If the prosecutor would have played it straight from the start, justice would have prevailed. Blame the California government for that f*ckup.
They should have been after the 13yr old's mom for pimping as well.
