"The Social Network" Can't Advertise on FacebookPosted: July 9th, 2010 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
|
David Fincher's "The Social Network" is about the early controversial days of Facebook, which now has over 500 million members. To promote a movie like this, the obvious strategy would be to constantly run ads on the site, but that's not going to happen.
"Facebook's advertising guidelines don't allow ads to reference the company unless Facebook has cooperated with the object of the ad," said Columbia Pictures. "So, we won’t be advertising there given these parameters."
The poster for the movie features actor Jesse Eisenberg as Facebook co-founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg, but if you think that the real Zuckerberg will have anything to do with the film, you're completely wrong. Just recently, he publicly expressed distaste for it, stating that he dreads the movie's release because of inaccuracies in the book it is based on.

If David Fincher decided to make a film about me... i would be so f*cking humbled and feel so f*cking grateful that a director of that caliber wanted to tell my story I wouldn't give a sh*t about any minor inaccuracies... This sniveling little c*nt doesnt sound like anyone should really give a flying f*ck about him...
But because Zuckerberg expressed distaste i suddenly feel more compelled to see this film.

Of course he doesn't want the movie to be released. The movie just shows how much of a bastard he is. This movie is not about product placing for facebook, it's about an *sshole who screwed over his friends.

Great Zeus' toe ...
the logic behind that overwhelms me to no end.
I must go seek the sage advice of the spirit of Emmett Kelly ...

sh*tty move, Zucky!
You won't allow David Fincher (who directed motherf*cking Fight Club, btw...) to market a movie about YOU using your resources...

Can anyone explain me the point of Twitter? I'd love to use it as a commercial tool, but the thing seems f*cking annoying.

Kurskij,Twitter is a pretty decent business tool if you have many people working under you, or for any type of artist who gathers fans and likes to keep them informed.
It's not really social networking, so much as it is mass messaging.
