Andy Serkis is Lead Ape in "Planet of the Apes" Prequel

Andy Serkis is Lead Ape in "Planet of the Apes" PrequelSubmit Comment
James Franco (Spider-Man) is already on board to star in the upcoming "Planet of the Apes" prequel, called "Rise of the Apes." Don Cheadle (Iron Man 2) and Freida Pinto (Slumdog Millionaire) are in talks.

All those actors are being lined up to play human roles, but today we have a confirmation from 20th Century Fox on who will play Caesar, the main CG ape in the film. The studio stated: "Gollum reteams with Weta. Andy Serkis to star as Caesar in 'Rise of the Apes,' portraying chimp who leads the simian revolt."

The new movie is described as an origin story that deals with the aftermath of man's experiments with genetic engineering that lead to the development of intelligence in apes and onset of war for supremacy. Franco will play a driven scientist who becomes a crucial figure in the war between humans and apes.

Probably Not.

Thank GOD they didn't say Andy SandBag from Saturday Night Live. No joke, I would've gone apesh*t and flew up there to daterape his ass
with a spidermonkey.

@Ranger

What'chu talkin' 'bout, Ranger ?

Gary would've rocked it as Dr. Zaius. Instead, we had Paul Giamatti whining his Jersey accent through thirty pounds of Rick Baker prosthetics.

Go f*cking figure.

Ande Serkis is awesome but this will still suck. These movies take themselves way too serious. If you're going to make a movie about apes taking over the world, you have to stop once and a while and think about how stupid that sounds. Then continue and make your movie, but aware of the stupidity.
trailertrash writes:

Charlton Heston's Planet of the apes was a great scfi movie, Beneath the planet was only ok Everything since has been a pretty lame and there's no reason this trend will change now....

Andy Serkis i like this guy, watched the cottage a little while ago a good horror comedy if you like that sort movie ....
SACdaddy writes:

Ranger writes:

@trailer - I was going to post exactly what you said in your first paragraph yesterday... word-for-word.

The first (Heston) Planet of the Apes... amazing. I wasn't even a big a fan of the first sequel are you are (but even you state it was so-so). And the rest were lame alright. Didn't need to be made at all.
trailertrash writes:
on June 30th, 2010 at 4:00:45 PM

I sort of liked the second one to a point but
No Roddy McDowell (flash backs only) and Heston didn't really want to return and would only do it if Taylor died, just thought it ended the series (well the 1st 2 films anyway).

The rest of the films including Burton's and the tv show are all so unnecessary aren't they.

Hey thats Hollywood for you ,they will milk that cow dry every time wont they....
