Mattel Developing "Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots" Movie Posted: June 24th, 2010 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
We recently got a glimpse at Hugh Jackman's "Reel Steal" movie, which takes place in a world where massive robots compete in boxing matches. The film seems to be based on Mattel's Rock 'Em, Sock 'Em Robots toy/game, but the studio denies it. Now, according to Pajiba, Mattell has teamed up with Mandeville Films to develop a film based on the 1960s toy. Unfortunately, they are having problems moving the project forward due to the many similarities to "Reel Steel." Mandeville claims that the story for their movie is different. It is being described as "Gladiator" meets "Iron Man," and it's the "human story of one robot that becomes part human, part robot." At this point, Wolfgang Peterson (Poseidon, Troy) is attached to direct from a script by Kurt Wimmer (Law Abiding Citizen).

Wow! Someone has a lot of f*ckin' time on their hands, hunh ?
Rock Em Sock Em, the Movie ? Might as well have Gabourey Sidibe, Kamryn Mandheim, Queen Latifah and Rosie O'Donnell (Or Rosanne Arnold) in Hungry, Hungry Hippos.

whoever is making this is just in it for whatever money they think they can get. Obviously this is gonna blow, you get get Martin f*cking Scorcese to do this and it still wouldn't be very good. Not saying Martin is bad, but Rock em sock em robots as a movie just doesn't work out.

Hollywood really need to stick to comic book and original movies like Iron Man And one of the best movies to come out, "Inception"
RedAutumn writes: on June 24th, 2010 at 10:23:58 PM
I can't to see that in 2012

"Dog takes giant sh*t" is supposed to be epic oscar worthy movie. It's starring Channing "Hoover" Tatum and Lyndsay "The Walking Black Plague "Lohan
Directed by Uwe Boll with Mike Bay producing.
This movie will set box office records

What the f*ck is wrong with Hollywood and these movies based on toys and board games? Is there really no creativity left and they have to resort to making movies based on toys with no story to them?

What surpises me is that is not an actual award...yet. He would defiantly win that award and the award for best actor turned mcdonalds employee.
CCBlev writes: on June 24th, 2010 at 11:33:52 PM
Maybe thats why Tatum has that smile in the other thread. He's practicing for "Welcome to Mcdonald's, would you like fries with that and a Carmel Frappe?

Idk if this is true or not (Probly not, considering it came off CNN) But according to them, the reason studios do garbage like this is cause its "Safe" and has an established "fan base"
Personally, I think someone should go punch these f*cks in the face and take the reigns... WHOSE WITH ME!!! lol

Worst previews?? How about worst article!! Real Steel is not based on the toy! It's based loosely on a science fiction story written by Richard Matheson first done on Twilight Zone in 1963. It's been greatly expanded and enhanced with the addition of a very good father-son relationship.
encoreyourface writes: on June 25th, 2010 at 1:09:45 AM
CC-can't wait two more years for those, lol.
Freudian_Nightmare writes: on June 25th, 2010 at 3:50:52 AM
C'mon! This is starting to get really ridiculous. I don't care if this Hugh-movie isn't based on the toy, it's still Rock 'Em f*cking Sock 'Em.
And board-games aren't a safe bet. Sure, PotC worked out fine but I don't think many people know it was based on a carousel. Everybody knows these movies will be based on board-games and everyone hates the idea.

Didn't know that Karl Marx was also a toy developer.
