Daniel Radcliffe Signs On for "All Quiet on the Western Front" RemakeSubmit Comment
Variety is reporting that "Harry Potter" star Daniel Radcliffe has official signed on to play the lead role in the remake of the 1930s Oscar-winning film "All Quiet on the Western Front."

The WWI drama tells the story of Paul Baumer (Radcliffe), a young German soldier fighting in the trenches of France. Production will begin in the spring of 2012, when Radcliffe would become available.

"Daniel brings a vulnerability and innocence to Paul," said producer Ian Stokell. "When we realized how much he loved the script we were really excited because we know he can tap into the delicate balance between intensity and believability that is critical for this demanding role."

The original film is a classic, but it's a total snooze fest, and an updating it won't make it interesting. If people didn't go to see an honorable film like "Flags of our Fathers", which was directed by Eastwood and produced by Spielberg, they won't go to see this.

The only upside is that this should be the final nail in the coffin for Daniel Radcliffe's film career. He's only made one feature film outside of the Harry Potter franchise, "December Boys", which no one saw, and one more outing in which studio heads see this guy without special effects around him and they'll realize he's just like Orlando Bloom. Wait...Orlando, who?

That's right. Daniel will suffer the same fate...so he can sleep take time out to sleep on his piles of cash.

If they wanted to do this film right they would hire all German speaking actors and use subtitles. I at least hope he tries a German accent unlike that lazy a-hole Tom Cruise.

Does seem like a fit for the character though, that producer actually sold it pretty well.

As much I can't stand the Harry Potter series of wasted space, if Daniel really wanted to show his acting chops, he should've asked to be in the sequel to Max, which delved into Hitler's youth in Austria and had John Cusack in it as Hitler's art teacher. All Quiet on the Western Front ? C'mon! What the bloody assf*ck is next ? A remake of Bridge on the River Kwai ?
