No Iron Man Cameo in "Thor" or "Captain America"Submit Comment
Jon Favreau recently did an interview with KROQ, where he talked about "Iron Man 2" and "The Avengers," and which cameos fans can expect from the upcoming Marvel films. We already know that Samuel L. Jackson won't appear in "Thor."

Regarding the character of Iron Man and actor Robert Downey Jr, Favreau said: "He's not in 'Thor', he's not in 'Cap' which are the two movies for next Summer."

He added: "I'm not sure where 'The Avengers' goes. There is no shooting draft written yet. It's gonna be a big undertaking for Marvel to actually incorporate what happened in 'Iron Man,' 'Iron Man 2,' 'Thor,' 'Captain America,' 'The Hulk.' All that has to inform one unified vision in 'The Avengers.' It's a very exciting prospect. And certainly, Tony Stark is not going to be involved in any of the movies until that one."

Good i like individual stories better than these cameos to focus on other characters. They should only be seen together in the Avengers.

Captain America will have its own Stark cameo from howard, and that's enough for me.
Thor should be its own standalone monster.

It's smart that they aren't putting Iron Man in those movies. It helps to not overuse the character.

Eh. I'm getting bored with this whole Marvel-to-film comic book cinema already. It's like cotton candy for the brain. Where are the more serious action/sci-fi films?

No need for IM to appear anyway. He won;t help. IM 2 wasn't that stellar, and I'm feeling a repeat of FF going on here with Thor and CA. Evans is a poor, poor choice.

@ Minkowski

Thought same way with Evans, but watched the Losers recently, he wasn pretty good in that film, i only hope he does well as Steve Rogers/Captain America. But who knows, maybe Tommy Lee Jones and Hugo Weaving will dominate that film

Max-spot on!
Mink-he is a poor choice. I'd rather have them cast an unkown for the role.
Skippy-Tommy and Hugo are the only redeeming qualites I see with this film so far.

CC-love the new avatar bro.

how the f*ck could IM be in Captain America when it is set in the 40's and the suit was invented in 2008?

@encore - last I heard, it was supposed to be mostly in the 40's and the rest in the present. Definitely agree though, leave Iron Man out for now. Wouldn't mind cameos from other characters, just not ShellHead again.

Let's see how all the information adds up.

1. Jon Favreau states in an interview when question about the Avengers movie:

"There is no shooting draft written yet. It's gonna be a big undertaking for Marvel to actually incorporate what happened in 'Iron Man,' 'Iron Man 2,' 'Thor,' 'Captain America,' 'The Hulk.' All that has to inform one unified vision in 'The Avengers."

He's stating that it will be a difficult challenge to coordinate all these individual movies.

And who is primarily responsible for this difficult undertaking?

Joss Whedon of course, the guy that Marvel tossed the directing job for the Avengers movie to.

Which leads to part 2...

2. Joss Whedon has admitted that he's not that experienced of a feature film director. And in fact he himself is not confident in his own directing ability.

3. Joss Whedon is much more relaxed and confident working on his own projects, especially in a capacity as a director.

4. Joss has completely blown his chance to do a super hero project that was handed to him gift wrapped with a big red bow on it. Not just a superhero movie, but an iconic super hero movie on par with any major Marvel character. All that was required was any amount of script.

So Joss stalled for absolutely as long as he possibly could, and then after all that waiting the comic book company and it's owners confronted him about delaying the project and how thing had reached a point where they were thinking seriously of pulling out of the deal if he did not immediately show them something resembling at least a partial script.

And Joss Whedon's reaction?

"I got nothing."

Not even a f*cking title page.

How the hell could anyone in their most deluded wish fulfillment fantasy even imagine that he can pull this off?

Yes there's a slim chance that he MIGHT be able to have a great movie as the final result, or at least a movie that's great enough...

...But seriously look at all the information available, his chances are even getting to the finish line are only a little better then the retarded monkey from the future that Marvel keeps in the closet that can only say "Ficas".

LOL John Zee!!! I've committed to giving Whedon a chance just based on Whedonites' (like Bunny) devotion and confidence in him, but its hard to argue with the facts you've just presented. I'm not a fan of his work and fear his lack of experience (amongst other things) will doom this film. But then again, most Marvel films kind of suck anyway so this would just be more of the same.

Iron Man 2 was complete coke headed crap, and I'm sorry I ever said anything positive about it. It won't happen again.
