Video: "Babel" Director's Amazing Nike Commercial

Video: "Babel" DirectorSubmit Comment
Today we have a three-minute Nike commercial, called "Write the Future," showing how individual moments in the World Cup can ripple globally. It is easily one of the best ads that I have ever seen.

The commercial is made by Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu, the Oscar-nominated director behind such films as "Babel," "21 Grams" and "Amores Perros." Check it out below.

The idea behind the ad is that players control the future by making or screwing up big plays. Winning can get you movie deals, statues and help the overall economy of a country, but losing can get you living in a mobile home.

Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu is unquestionably a very talented director. I just wish he would diversify his filmography beyond human misery and squalor.

I love the take on the different culture crowds that tie in with the World Cup.
The f*ck was the budget on this commercial? Nike, I don't play sports. But please sponsor and endorse me for being a chronic masturbater. One thing that I'm pro at.
Ranger writes:

Nice commercial... although I don't know where they can run a 3 minute commercial.

Nice 'damage control' with Nike trying to take some spotlight off of Tiger Woods.

@ranger - they do sometimes run those ad's in full during a game here , but normally they edit it to about a minute and half (they will cut drogba out of this ad).

Cristiano Ronaldo, the only thing people know about Portugal (my country)

anyway they should get more great directors to do these commercials, maybe I'd actually not mind watching them

Good Food (sea food especially) and Wine

Portugal helped alot of jews when they were fleeing germany during WW2

Thats about it .....

But your right here in England it will always be the wink he (ronaldo) gave after Rooney was sent off in 2006 world cup 1/4 final , that people here remember about Portugal !!
trailertrash writes:

@quest8613- No need for the *sshole comment , not everybody loves football , no need to attack everyone like that just because they dont like football.

Pretty much everyone thought advert was very good whether they liked football or not.

With an attitude like that i take it you like Millwall, they can be pretty dumb down there...

If they wanted to show an accurate celebration in each of the world's countries they should have shown a bunch of American's sleeping.
