"RollerCoaster Tycoon" Game to Become Live-Action/CGI Movie

"RollerCoaster Tycoon" Game to Become Live-Action/CGI MovieSubmit Comment
Sony Pictures Animation has picked up rights to the Atari video game "RollerCoaster Tycoon" and has attached Harald Zwart (The Karate Kid, Pink Panther 2, Agent Cody Banks) to produce and possibly direct. The project will be a live-action/CGI hybrid.

The "Tycoon" franchise, created by Chris Sawyer, is a popular series of computer games that simulate a combination of designing roller coasters and amusement park management. Each game challenges players with open-ended amusement park management and development while allowing them to construct and customize their own unique roller coasters.

The games are popular in the PC world, generating more than $300 million in sales and giving Atari the third-best-selling PC title of all time in the US.

Atari that was the mutts nuts back in the day.

Kids of today would be thinking 2 white lines and a circle doesn't make a tennis game LOL

Enough with these no-plot-games! It's not that hard to make a movie based on a game with a pre-existed plot. The plot is already there! You don't even have to come up with a new plot, couldn't be any easier.

@ rabid
"The games are popular in the PC world, generating more than $300 million in sales and giving Atari the third-best-selling PC title of all time in the US."

This is one of my all-time favorite games.
As a movie? I'm worried as f*ck.

Part of the enjoyment was the creative spontaneity and personal gratification that came with building something. I'd rather not watch someone else do that, or else I'd go park a lawn chair at a construction site

@lost_addict: Isn't that what Lost is pretty much about? A big game of Backgammon? Either way, I'm gonna be very sad when it ends.

@Man In Black, Tatum doesn't have nuts to kick. Ugggh I hate him.

Lol like I said in another game thread. Why don't they go ahead and make Jenga: The Movie filmed on location in Haiti or Argentina?
