George A. Romero Planning Two More Zombie Films

George A. Romero Planning Two More Zombie FilmsSubmit Comment
George A Romero (Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead) is the father of the zombie movies, but in the recent years the legendary director has been losing his touch.

He is now doing press junkets for his latest flick, "Survival of the Dead," which hasn't been getting the best reviews. But just in case "Survival" does well in theaters, Romero is already two more zombie films that he would love to shoot back-to-back.

He told STYD that the new installments would push the ideas he applied to the undead in "Survival," which sees the residents of an island off the cost of North America simultaneously fighting a zombie epidemic and hoping for a cure to return their undead relatives back to human.

Same old story to any zombie film, move on.

The article should've been titled:

"George A. Romero Planning To Face-f*ck The sh*t Out Of His Fans By Releasing Two More sh*tty Zombie Films Since He Should Have Given Up After "Land Of The Dead" Sucked As Bad As Bad As It Did"

I guess they went with the other one cause this one was a little too long. (That's what she said.)

No one would be happier than me if managed to get his sh*t right (maybe there's someone who would be happier, but he's probably a douche anyway), but I don't think that will happen. For every new movie he makes, he strays further and further down the sh*tdrain and I doubt he will get out.

with you there Freud, would love him to get back on form, i just dont see it happening, i think hes lost his touch, maybe with age, everything about the new movies is just wrong, the dialogue is cheesey, the action is dull....and what was with the soldier girl randomly masturbating in survival of the dead!?

I just think its time to put his feet up and leave it to the new wave, still love ya though George

you guys are right his last 2or3 movies have been very poor, He seems to have lost that edge of your seat terror his early films had.

Maybe it's time to step a side , we dont want to make the zombies more human we want chaos, a handful of survivors against hordes of zombies baying for their blood !!!

Is that to much to ask...

Dawn of the Dead remake by Zach Snyder was better than all of Romeo's BS. Retire, douche bag.
trailertrash writes:

DeVries -you should have a little respect for george , guys like zach snyder would have grown up watching his movies and they most likely had a big influence on him as a film maker i'm sure !!

lawman writes:

They need to make a Zomnie movie the way it would really go down. If Zombies were to suddenly exist, they would not decimate the population. They would cut it in half roughly. The remaining people would have to be on the look out but I highly doubt they would huddle in shelters at all times and be scared to move. People would group up, arm up, and try to go on about their buisness as much as they could. Make one like this! Where people are coping with the menace! Guy walking down the street on a cell phone and suddenly has to start running until he can grab his piece and defend himself! Something like that. Report incidents to the cops. Call a hotline to report roving groups of the undead! Come on!
AYT BALL writes:
on May 12th, 2010 at 11:16:14 AM

@DeVries - like trailer said you should show the guy a little respect, snyders was great but he took all his ideas from 28 days later and applied it to a dawn of the dead setting, nothing wrong with that, loved his take on it, but Georges original was a much more intelligent version, exploring the effects on relationships etc. and ultimately showing the destructive greedy side of human nature. Yes i know its a little camp and dated but still a very well written epic take on what could happen. Bet if it ever does happen we will all be heading to the mall!

@IAmChestRockWell - ok, any interesting input?

@ Lawman - George has kinda been trying that with the last 3 movies, starting with land of the dead, think the main problem is everyone wants to see the breakout and the panic! thats the truely exciting part of a zombie invasion, what would you do? where would you go? etc. I think to show something new we should go further into the future, where man is living with it, but is out numbered big time! lets face it the diseases that the zombies would carry around would kill alot of people eventually without having to bite them!
lawman writes:
on May 12th, 2010 at 11:26:49 AM

AYT>>> Thats kinda what I meant. Like Daybreakers in tone. There would still be panic but a different type. Like people now when there is mall shooting or something. When they first happened, people would be on edge fro days. Now, its kind of reactionary and over soon.
billofill writes:

So he's going to go forward with the Zombies eating Animal Meat as well as human flesh?
DeVries writes:
on May 12th, 2010 at 11:59:44 AM

Romero did good light years ago. I had respect but now, he's movies are boring and annoying. Other people than him can do zombies movies too...
Sev writes:
on May 12th, 2010 at 12:26:17 PM

The guy just can't direct actors, simple as that, coupled with the fact that the script writing in his films is utter bollocks.
Matiax writes:

Orgy of the dead and...?
Freudian_Nightmare writes:
on May 12th, 2010 at 12:39:00 PM

The thing is, Romero still have good ideas, at its core. He just manage to make them really boring. Even though his first weren't adrenaline rush, they still were exciting. Land of the Dead had all the promise and gore to make it good, but it was so god damn boring. Stuff just sort of happened.
And Diary of the Dead, again good idea, but horrible executed. There he tried to recreate Night of the Living Dead with extremem low budget and unknown actors. But you just can't recreate stuff like that. It'll be forced and bad.

dawn of the dead remake kick more ass then all of them.the best george movie was land of the dead
trailertrash writes:

DeVries-

No one is saying other people can't make Zombie movies , Zach did a good job on the Dawn Remake and shaun of the dead was very good also , what we are saying is you have to give a little respect to george for what he's done over the years.

Both of the movies i have mentioned owe alot to Romero, as does Lucio Fulci Zombi 2 (more from night than dawn IMO).

We agree he's not the movie maker he once was , but we all still have respect for the man who changed the face of Zombie movies for ever.

Different year and same old sh*t; Enough with the zombie movies already! There are other types of undead creatures than zombies and vampires-try making some movies on them (like Ghouls, Banshees, and Wights). If you do make a zombie movie how about something different from any other zombie movie such as the zombies part of Arch devil's armies battling over a post apocalyptic Earth that has become Somalia like with demonic warlord battling each other for turf with vast warring zombie armies as foot soldiers?

Just for the record Mr. Romero: Move on... Do another thing or write another sh*t. But stop making senseless zombie films without a good plot. The only thing left for this kind of plots, is to have the death back in time, dumbass!!!!!

A Wight: 'the word has been used within the fantasy genre of literature to describe undead or wraith-like creatures: corpses with a part of their decayed soul still in residence, often draining life from their victims. Notable examples of this include the undead Barrow-Wights from the works of J. R. R. Tolkien and the wights of Dungeons & Dragons role-playing game." So it's basically like a vampire or ghoul in that it is an intelligent undead but instead of drinking blood or eating your flesh it drains your vitality, essence, life force but touching you and leeching it off you thus aging and killing you like the Nazi dude that looks at the ghosts in the Ark at the end of Raiders of the Lost Ark.

I thought Diary of the Dead was well done, but Survival of the Dead was just terrible. It did have a nice cameo appearance by the cast from Diary.
