Sony Promises "Spider-Man" Reboot will be Different

Sony Promises "Spider-Man" Reboot will be DifferentSubmit Comment
Columbia Pictures president Matt Tolmach spoke to THR about the upcoming "Spider-Man" reboot, stating that the studio has to focus on great storytelling and not rely too much on the various digital techniques that are at their disposal.

Tolmach added that he's excited but nervous about the reboot, which he described as "Peter Parker told differently." He promised it will look, feel and smell different from the three films starring Tobey Maguire. "We're humbled by it," he said.

The new movie is to be directed by Mark Webb (500 Days of Summer) from a script by James Vanderbilt. It is scheduled to hit 3D and 2D theaters on July 3rd, 2012.

Smell different. Is this a new advancement from 3D? I still have fear that this will be twilight for superheroes.

The only thing wrong with spiderman was you f*ckin Sony execs kept interefering!.... And kirsten dunst. Spiderman did not need a reboot, regardless of who the villain was gonna be. Sony does not deserve the rights to spiderman and therefore should be given back to marvel

"Promises it will be different" So a more Twatlight driven Emo Peter Parker, lick my sweaty balls hollywood>

It clearly is going to be poor. A desperate attempt by sony to cream in cash before they loose the franchise. I bet they get some f*cker from twilight to play Peter Parker.

It will smell different ?

Spiderfarts, Spiderfarts,
noone told Spidey wet ones are tart ...
SBD, concealed in web

Freudian_Nightmare writes:

Smell different? They really taking this to new levels.

And of course it will be different from other ones, if it would follow the third's footstep it wouldn't be much of a reboot.
Spankfish writes:
on April 29th, 2010 at 12:34:36 PM

I've worked out. The origin story will be about the spider that bites him, so 1 hour cgi nature program, 30 mins building up to the bite and the big final bite scene, leaving the story open for a sequel.

." He promised it will look, feel and smell different from the three films starring Tobey Maguire."

you mean from the first two films that were sucssesfull!! untill the studio started trying to puch Rami around to what they wanted!!!!!

skatemaster62 writes:

@johnny
im with you brother sony is the new fox

i would rather see marvel get the rights back and reboot it themselves and incorporate it into there marvel film universe
dissident187 writes:

I guess that makes me the only one happy that they are rebooting this. Coz I could not satand Tobey Maguire as Spiderman as well as the fact that Spiderman became a bigger p*ssy as the franchise progressed. Not the mentioned the Saturday Night Fever fiasco in Spiderman 3. And my biggest beef with these films, was that even with a $330 million dollar budget, they still couldn't make Spiderman look real, while Iron Man and Batman Begins did so much better with less than half.
dman500 writes:

this just makes me sad...though i will agree with d-187...iron man and batman looked much more realistic b/c they used actual people in costume instead of relying totally on cgi.

ok, so sony promises this spiderman reboot to be different, but you know what they didn't promise?...they didn't promise it would be better...what more confirmation do you need to know that spiderman should be in marvel's possession as it rightfully should be?
makingcircles writes:

Sony you douche-guzzling inbred f*cks. Nobody wants emo Spider-man. It'll "smell different"??? Yeah...it'll smell like Lohan's meat-grinder vagina after a long day of jump-roping. Yes, let's take a formula that has enticed and garnered millions of fans since the 60s and make it smell different..good idea Sony.

Max, ur not funny dude, stop postin so much sh*t.
That being said I also am very concerned with how Spidey is gonna turn out. However I love even the sh*thouse comic films. But like u guys I really hope they're not goin the Twilight route. If they actually stick close to the Ultimate Spidey universe like they originally said it would be a good film, it's once they start adding useless sh*te to the story where things start to fail.
koul writes:

screw this movie. i don't care if it is going to be different. they should just cancel it right now! and just leave the last 3 spider-man films as they are

@ Dissident187
i totally agree with u..i ALWAYS been a little dissatisfied with the previous 3 films as well..i didnt think they were "terrible" but not quite what I thought spidey movies would be like..Peter Parker should of eventually evolved a little or had more confidence..He shouldnt of stayed an awkward nerd in ALL 3 movies..i would of liked to have seen the more wisecracking but over-the-top spider/peter parker from the comics and classic Fox animated series
