Thousands of "Avatar" Copies Stolen by Armed Robber

Thousands of "Avatar" Copies Stolen by Armed RobberSubmit Comment
The previous record for single-day Blu-ray sales was set by "The Dark Knight" back in 2008 with 600,000 copies. "Avatar" has surpassed that record by selling a whopping 1.5 million Blu-ray discs.

The film has also helped sales of Blu-ray players as retailers are reporting that a significant number of people bought a player and a copy of "Avatar" together.

But the movie is not only a hot item in stores, it is also a very valuable commodity on the black-market. According to a report issued by the attorney general of justice in Mexico City, 3,409 DVD and Blu-ray copies of "Avatar" were taken at gunpoint from a delivery truck belonging to Technicolor Home Entertainment Services of Mexico.

The report said that the truck driver was assaulted by an armed robber, who got away with cargo valued at $54,873.

Vin-"Honestly, it's just a movie. people need to get a grip"

that's something we can certainly agree on. it's just a f*cking movie we didn't REALLY come into contact with aliens on another planet ... so they say.

Max Rockatansky Junior writes:

Be on the lookout for a man missing five front teeth selling stolen Avatar Blu-Ray DVDs from the back of his customized and air-brushed van, with a sign that says AHVUTUR HERE $ 5 OR BLOW ...

It would've really been funny if TMZ found out James Cameron hired this guy (to help create press about the DVDs).

Wow. And they didn't do this for the Star Wars prequels. Go figure.

It's Mexico. They can trade them for marijuana, Jose Cuervo, blow and 1.000.000 lap dances and more in Tiajuana.

@ vin12.... I know you were desperate to see some gay avatar sex but come on? Why steal thousands of copies? All you need is one
Max Rockatansky Junior writes:

Beats selling oranges on the street corner, I suppose.
Max Rockatansky Junior writes:

He should've waited for the Directors Cut with extended scenes, extra special features, the web-site link and the Digi-Copy DVD that could be used on Ipods.

What a tard.

They'll wind up being sold behind a Wal Mart somewhere. Or IN a Wal Mart somewhere.

Bet ole James Camerons pissed!! Lookslike he's gonna have to rerelease Avatar in theatres again to make up for the money he lost on that one.

@Wonderboy- "take that"???? Really??

Uhhh, the guy's movie has made over $2 billion in theaters and now several million more on DVD and Blu-Ray! Realistically he has probably made out with close to $500 million on this film alone, if not more! And considering it costs about $.01 to make a blu-ray he's out about $35. I really dont think he gives a sh*t!
Considering they would probably sell those blu-ray on the street in mexico for about $5-$10, he's out an additional couple hundred bucks, whoopty f*cking doo.

I dont really understand this pathetic "james cameron hater" bandwagon but I got to say how funny it is how so many of you *followers* just jump right on simply because a few of your interent friends did so before you! PATHETIC!!

The guy makes nothing but great films and you bash him because, what? One film didn't quite meet your expectations? Boo hoo, get over it.
wonderBOY writes:

@ kmccarney88 did you read the rest its clearly a joke
Affliction writes:
on April 25th, 2010 at 1:20:45 AM

@Encore... Maybe the guy stole the movies so that no one else will have to watch it in Mexico. Maybe its like the movie "The Ring" in that country and the man tried to save them all from having that dead crazy face.... There has to be a reason for all the madness.
encoreyourface writes:
on April 25th, 2010 at 1:44:54 AM

Affliction-lol yeah maybe he's trying to save Mexico the retardation America has suffered.
