"Inside Man" Sequel is Dead

Posted: April 20th, 2010 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
"Inside Man" Sequel is DeadSubmit Comment
Earlier this month, columnist Roger Friedman (the guy who was fired by News Corp for promoting illegal downloading of "X-Men Origins: Wolverine") stated on his blog that Spike Lee was finishing shooting the "Inside Man" sequel with Denzel Washington and Clive Owen.

The news turned out to be completely false. "We were going to do 'Inside Man 2' but it didn't workout," Lee told ESPN a few days ago. He didn't go on to explain whether the movie fell apart because of Washington or other reasons.

"Inside Man" is Lee's highest grossing film, grossing $184 million on a $45 million budget. There have been plans to develop a sequel. It not looks like those plans are on hold. Stay tuned.

Good. Don't get me wrong, I liked "The Inside Man", but a sequel is not necessary.

agreed. the first was great but a sequel really couldn't (or shouldn't) be about the same guy doing the heist if that was their plan, and ... yeah i'm glad it's dead.

^^^

agreed,because every one else is.

no, there is no need for a second.he got away with it,denzel knows he did.the dude was to smart to risk his luck again.leave it alone and be known for a good flick that isnt tanished by a sequel.

really what movies were as good or better then the first?

besides;

t2,superman 2,aliens,mad max 2,the empire strikes back, the wrath of khan, the other dollar movies(the good, bad, ugly, few more dollars) and the godfather 2.

in the wide scale of things that not very many.

First one was very good. No need for a second......(in my parrot voice)
Not much else to be said about this thread. Seems we're all in agreement

Hmm. Nice to see everyone's on the same page about this. Pointless sequels suck!
SACdaddy writes:

Totally agree even though I'd see anything with Denzel and Clive. Neither one of them seem like the sequel type though. Good for them :-)

I had know idea the first film made that much money. There you go Spike, make you some BO money for once!

No point for a sequel. who ever killed it good job

Inside man? That's what COC calls his father. I don't want to see that movie.
BurmaShave writes:

INSIDE MAN was such a solid movie, and a nice sort of updating of TAKING OF PELHAM 123. The fact that Denzel then went on to a straight remake of that makes another INSIDE MAN seem silly. He does need to work with Spike again though, it's pretty much official Lee can no longer make a decent movie without either Washington or Edward Norton.

It's interesting that the source is ESPN. Anyway, yeah I don't see the need or point of a sequel.
