Brad Bird in Final Talks to Helm "Mission: Impossible 4"

Brad Bird in Final Talks to Helm "Mission: Impossible 4"Submit Comment
We recently reported that director Brad Bird (Ratatouille, The Incredibles) was on the short list to direct the fourth "Mission: Impossible" movie, which will once again see Tom Cruise reprise his Ethan Hunt role.

Now, NY Magazine has learned that Paramount Pictures has now chosen Bird as the director and are now in final negotiations with him. The only thing that could ruin the deal is if Bird refuses to lower his salary.

Since Bird mostly works on animated films which take many years to complete and his salary reflects that. On top of that, the man has won Oscars for his last two films, which raises his salary even more.

Since "Mission: Impossible 4" won't take even a year to complete, Paramount is hoping that Bird will lower his salary to reflect the amount of work that needs to be done. Stay tuned.

It's perfect, Cruise is cartoon animation come to life so Bird will feel right at home

Should be interesting. If he can do live action half as good as he's does animation, this film will be awesome. Then maybe he can go to work on an Incredibles sequel.

Bird would be another director I would love to see up for the Avengers job, but it sounds like he's way out of Marvel's Cracker Jack budget range.

So MI4 goes animated.
That should be something to see.

Mi3 Was f*ckin awesome....

John Woo is such a bad f*cking director hes the chinese equivalent to Paul WS Anderson..

I f*cking hated everything woos ever done... except RedCliff that movie was bad ass...

But he ruined Mi2 and completely turned me off to the franchise...

Abrams f*cking aced it though... Stoked to see what Bird can bring to the table...

@wonderBOY, if Brad and Conan O'Brien went back to the Simpsons, that would be something.

@synpatheh: If you must know, its just a nickname I picked from playing American Football. When you hit a quarterback they call it a "sack". I was good a doing that and my initials just happened to be S.A.C. so the name stuck. Now stop stalking me :-)

As for MI4, I just hope they set another bomb off in somebody's head again. That girl's eye was fuuuucked after it went off.

@SACdaddy--"Bird would be another director I would love to see up for the Avengers job, but it sounds like he's way out of Marvel's Cracker Jack budget range."

I'm with you! I would love to see what Bird would do with a live action adaption of the Avengers! I'd be more excited if he was helming that production instead of MI:4.
Damn!Damn!DAMN!
DaveThePhotoGuy writes:

@triggax- MI2 was a giant sh*tburger for two reasons, 1 Woo told the guys I want these stunts in the movie so write it around them.
2 The original cut of the movie was 3hrs but the studio did'nt want it that long so had to cut to around the 2hr mark which is why there are massive plot holes and nothing makes sense.

Looking forward to see Brad Bird try and pull off a live action flick. I'm sure he'll do fine.
